Fabric pots will give you a far easier clean up and maintenance, but the growbed will most likely give the roots more space to grow. If your really looking for highest possible yield I'd go with the growbed.

ok, what about watering it wouldn't evenly watering everything be a problem? unlkess I got a table that was tilted downwards or towards the middle so the water goes al the same place.

I got buddies that absolutely kill it with beds. Not really for me. As i always need to move plants around. I use pots and stakes. Unless i'm doing more of a hydro type setup.

How about doing both though? Set up a 4x4 tray as you would for a drain to waste, then put a:
Smart Pot Tray Liner 4' x 4' x 12"

Water evenly with a water wand

The killer things about growing in beds are: like earlier said, shit loads of space for roots(perfect for your organic grow). And EVERY plants dries out the same. I'm jealous already! Lol

I like this idea, as I have some plants outside in felt pots and wanted to get another bed for them.

I love the felt pots for sure, but watering every day, twice a day, is a lot.

With a grow bed, I think a water drip line could be established, and save water?

Or since it is one solid whole medium, can you use a watering can with a spout that spreads the water out?, and that way you can load up say a gallon, and water evenly over the entire bed in a soft drip way.

As for a ballast, I only work with CFL's and LED (so far). From what I've researched, lumatek is going to be the best for digital ballasts, for a few reasons I guess. Non-digital ballast are pretty solid, just get the job done from what I have been told. Not sure on a quality brand name for those, but I know they don't have all the electronics that the digital ones do, which for some may be better than a digital. Just trying to help.

I'm not really down with the smartpots indoor either. I still end up rocking them here and there though.
Still use them outdoor though. 200 gallon smartpots, We bury them half way into the ground.with a big "X" cut in the bottom, laying on top of gopher wire. Works great!

OK let the chit fly. I love Smart Pots. You call them Felt Pots. I grow the Autos I grow in 1 gal pots indoors. My plants depending on strain have been a tall as 47 inches. Yield is very good. No 2-3 oz plants here. It is much better. However the last 3-4 weeks you water them everyday. If it is hot twice. Maybe I missed something but you are running 600 in a 5x5 tent? I would add another 600 or at least go to1000.

Can't put that much power in their. Besides I can get an almost equal amount with a 600 as a 1000 watt can. I say almost cause not every harvest is the same. I use .5 then on two five then seven pots. All with great white sprinkled onto the roots. and I use coco coir with more perlite so its on the soilless side. I was thinking have the table be a little tiltednon one side that way you water one side and gravity will work the rest. I cod just have my watering setup like a gravity flow. If you know what that is.

MMM. I have never done the Bed deal inside. That might be kind of cool. For sure more dirt for roots. Would probably need a light weight soil or grow medium to be able to move it in and out of tent. Damn you guys. Get my mind to going sometimes. Maybe I need a smoke to fix that. I have done beds for veggies outside and it worked great. I need to relax now.
