Grow-Box Activated Carbon. advice please.

I already got the Activated Carbon. so i am thinking of 2 ways of implementing it into my exhaust. Please any advice would be great.

1: can i put the carbon inside of a home made box? have 4" going into the box, carbon lined at the bottom, 4" exit.

my question with that is, will that be enough to clean my exhaust air? if it just enters the chamber like that with the carbon on the bottom?
My theory is the air will enter the chamber and bounce around in there and exit out the exhaust end.....thats the theory anyway.

2: to cut up some Nylon and sew them together into "pocket" like filters and fill em, stick em in the 4" duct. im sure that will be good. but im wanting more ideas.

will the box work? or should i just make my Nylon filter?

If this has been posted else where, my apologies.

I made a version of the first one that works great.
But with a little ingenuity and looking through what others have done, have fun and come up with your own. The keys are to make sure that moving air can only go through the carbon (no leaks where unfiltered air can escape), your layer of carbon is thick enough and your cfm doesn't exceed the rate at which the carbon layer can absorb odor (don't use a jet engine to force air through a 2mm carbon layer), and humidity isn't sky-high.
