grow box : CFL or HPS

I AM PLANNING TO BUILD A GROW BOX BUT IM STUMPED ON THE TYPE OF LIGHT I SHOULD GET I WAS THINKING OF GETTING A 250-400W HPS WILL THIS BE GOOD
ENOUGH FOR VEGING AND FLOWERING?
IM GOING TO BE GROWING HYDRO WITH General Hydroponics Powergrower-Eco NOT SOIL IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE .

i use a 400HPS and it dose the trick, if it were me i would do with the HPS over the CFLs any day.. a 400watt doesnt cast all that much to run.....if you decide to go with the HPS get a HILUX GRO bulb for vegging,, its conversion bulb that can be used with any regular HPS ballast, the bulb is just the same as a MH, you DO NOT need a digital conversion ballast to run this bulb,

if you go that way and have the ventilation in a box to handle it.., i would max out the value of a purchase and go with a metal halide / Hp switchable ballast. I just bought a 400 with both bulbs for 150 delivered aqnd i have a 1000 arriving tommorow for 270 delivered.. complete with hoods

if you got the coin to get the convertable ballast then i would go for it,, i simply just get the HILUX GRO bulbs cuz i only have a normal HPS ballast and i with these bulbs they are cheaper then buying a new ballast and bulb for the new ballast, and these bulbs are 100% blue spectrum

not to bad on priceing.. but i live in canada and in the city i live in i would pay the same from my local indoor hydro store, which is where i get all my stuff from

thats cool.. I live 50 miles from the nearest walmart and teh hydro stores are just starting to show up In Billings, mt. Whats your favorite canadian variety, I've been hearin of a BC Bud down here.. is that a variety or just bud snuck in from BC ?

Yeah I first started with a 400 watter, did about 3 grows with it. excelent learner light. But as Simply said, u need to controll temps with ventilation. Ventalation is just as important as the light out put itself.

lol there are some strains that start with BC like BC big bid...... but for the most part it is just MJ shipped from BC to other places,, i am actually from BC man,,, and that sucks man that you live so far away from your nearest store :( sorry for the luck on that one,,, i can walk to the nearest actual indoor hydro shop in like 5 min :)
