Grow box lighting

A 2'x2' square box needs between 20,000 and 28,000 Lumens, respectively, for vegging and flowering? 3x 20w CFL's, 1x 48w CFL, 1x 40w 4' warm white floro. tube + 2x 40w daylight floro. tube, 1x 40w plant & aquarium floro. tube. Enough for 2 clones/plants?

To be honest 20,000 lumens is not enough for even 1 plant in full bloom. I've tried it and I was dissapointed every time. If you are going to use CFL you want lots of side lighting to penetrate the lower branches.

What about 2x 4ft 65k, 2x 4ft 27k, 4x 23wat cfl 27k and 4x 50k 20wat cfl, the 4ft behind tall ways for back light and the cfls positioned all around

Idk how the hell the 2'x2' box is going to work out for you. I started with a 2'x2' and it didn't last long. I'd just build a bigger box and raise up the plants towards the lights until they get bigger. I had my plants under 6 23w cfl's Now I have the same 6 above and 3 on each side. this box is about twice the size as my first.

WTF Red? I noticed that you've got an extension cord with lights plugged into the end of it; how'd you do that!? What kind of adapter is that, I didn't know you could turn any extension cord into a light source. My box has gotten bigger as well as the amount of light in there.

this is my old cfl box moved to hid now it was made from an old gutted dresser 2 plants lots of lst 400 actual watts of cfl pulled just about 6 ozs total

Got more lights today. Now; (2) 48w cfl, (5) 20w cfl, (2) 19w cfl, (4) 4' T-12 daylight. In a 2'x2'x4' room, it's about 75-80 degrees F and 51% humidity. I'd say, it's like a tropical paradise in there; were it not for the fact that I only have 1 plant in there now.

That's a great idea! How big are they? Is that tin-foil? Not that my advice comes from actual experience but I've been told, by many grower's, that tin-foil is bad to use. If it is wrinkled or crinkled in any way, those poits can focus the light on a fixed spot and cause burns. Not to mention, it can harbor mold behind the tin foil from the humidity getting behind it and the wall. I was told there's a product called "Panda Plastic", it has chemicals imbedded in it to keep molds away and provide adequate reflection. I'm looking for a store in my area that carries it.

if this is to me then no just flat white paint the foil you see was just to block the light from my eyes when I was in there I run a 400 and 600 watt hid now built my own tents for about 40 bucks each made from pvc pipe and panda film oh and a couple tarp zippers

Mr. G: My bad. I'd LOVE to upgrade to hps but don't have the $ for that at this juncture. :( I think, next year, I'll attempt to do something similar. My green room isn't the biggest (5'x5') with limited electricity so, I've got to come up with something alot better than a little box in the corner.
