Grow Closet Dimensions Question

I know these questions get asked thousands of times around here but I just haven't found one yet that fits the bill... so I'll just ask. :peace:

I have an area of a room that I want to convert to my grow closet. Based on the fact that folks can grow in an old PC, I figure it's plenty of room but I'm just unsure of how to partition it out. Yes, I'm a noob that has just been reading all I can on these boards to try and put together my plans.

Total space that I have for the design is 4' 2" deep by ~14 wide. Due to the way the roof is angled, I only have 6' in height in the majority of that space where I can place plants, lights and fans but there is plenty of space above it that where I plan to enclose ballasts and carbon filters. Behind the wall that it will be placed against there is about 2' of dead space that empties eventually out to my garage.

While I might do my first grow all in one of the spaces, I want to go ahead and construct it with the idea of having a total of 5 separate areas. Area 1 would be a space for a couple of mothers with Area 2 actually built just above it for clones. Area 3 would be right next to that one for veg. Area 4 next to that for Flowering and then place a small Area 5 at the end just to house supplies, nutrients etc.

I would want to use fluorescents for the clones, a 600w HPS for flowering and a 400w MH for veg. Not sure what to use for a couple of mothers. Maybe a 250w MH? The space outside the closet runs central air and heat which will be where the air intake will be coming from and will that air will eventually be evacuated out into that dead area I mentioned earlier after going through the carbon filter.

I plan on doing a soil grow and was thinking I wouldn't want to go beyond 3 gallon buckets. I was thinking of using FoxFarm soil and nutrients. I'd like to end up with 3-4 ladies flowering at a time so I guess that means that I would need somewhere between 7 and 10 in veg pretty much? I will obviously start with an indica or more likely indica/sative blend but I definitely have a huge desire to eventually grow a couple of sativas. That is unless I find an indica/sativa that gives me a good heady high with some bad ass giggles.

Nobody except my long time wife and the millions of people that read these boards know or will know about this project and this is only for personal use.

So, my biggest "first" question is: In a space this size how would you partition it out to best make use of it?

Since your total space is 8 foot in the front, I would do a 5 foot lower section for flower, and a 3 foot upper section for flower clones. In the upper section place your lighting on the angled ceiling section so you have more vertical space for growing. Ventilation may be difficult, so plan out where you want it and test it before you actually start the grow.

Thanks! The outer shell I can go ahead and build but since I want to make sure no light seeps from one area to the other, I'd rather build the walls between them at the same time.
