Grow closet/ set up advice

Hi everybody, I am new here this is my third grow so I really want to do everything right this time. I was wondering if you guys could comment on my grow set up and include any advice. I have two automatic seedlings growing , Vertigo and northern lights s big bud. I am using fox farm ocean forest soil and added about an additional 20% perlite to mainly the bottom of the2.5 gallon buckets. My lights are all 6500k except for one 150 watt equiv soft white. I find it difficult to find the daylight lights in high wattage. I purchased buds for less on kindle its been very helpful. Thanks for your help everyone! Let me know what you think!

look ok ..

tho I would start seedlings in cups and repot in to bigger pots .. hard to water big pots with small seedlings with small root net ..
and weed also stretch ther roots out .. so they dont use 30% of the middel soil .. if grow in smaller pots fist it will have a hugh root net in the middel of the final pot/bucket .. just consider it in the future .. atlest you got big pots hopefully also with big drain holees in the bottom ?

about the light .. with autos .. I would mainly choose 2700K and 5000K bulbs ..
and I would also get/buy/make a hood of some kind .. for reflextion use 10-20$ on maylor boath for the hood and the walls/around the plants ..

etc. if you make a wide hood .. lets say 2x3 feet you could let maylor hang down on 2-3 sides ..


here is what I have going on right now (T5HO tubes)



got maylor on boath sides of the fixture (on the wall and hanging down from the fixture as a curtain)
one end ther is a fan .. wher my intake is .. bloweing fresh air at the fixture/plants .. other end my tube from my outtake vent.

trick with clf and tubes is to keep them close as penetration is ther biggest down side .. 2-4 inch`s away seems to work best for me .
but most importent is to train/top/FIM the plants to get em bushy and keep em low and even .. so most of the plant is right under the light ..

Y-adapters man, Y-ADAPTERS! I see you got one in there but get a few more and reduce the amount of lamps. IMO, this is a great fire risk I see. Maybe not to others but I am paranoid when it comes to electrical doings. Also you do need a hood of some sort...

I would suggest getting a few of them sideways for better coverage overall as well. Other than that, keep your temps right and dont get impatient about it. Read these forums, they are filled with great info and on the net in general, not just here.

Ouch! You inadvertedly added a week to your finishing time, imo. You put a new seedling into it's final pot.
New seedlings grow roots first until the roots hit the inside of the pot. There will be little growth above ground
until the roots have bottomed out. Ordinarily it's not a bigee, but being autos makes it worse. Once in dirt most autos
only have 8-10 weeks or so to live. They don't need half the rootball they will have now.

I would transplant them into solo cups or 4-inch pots.The plants would then bottom the roots out much quicker so they can start vegging.

i used buds for less to start growing as well.

your setup is good for now. at this point, you could get away with only one light a couple of inches directly above each plant, but more certainly doesn't hurt. have you thought about a way to maintain light coverage when the plant begins to get bigger by making the light thing as shown in the book? that is the only thing i can think of right now. you are on the right path.

Thanks everybody great information! I started them in solo cups but got a little impatiant and paranoid that i didnt use a good medium to start with. Guess i should have waited to transplant. Ill keep everyone updated im trying to construct a hood. Thanks again.

When they look like this in the small 5 inch pots, then you can transplant to 2-5gal pots. Maybe not quite as big as in my pic since you're in solo's.

Hey guys is there a way to keep my autos short and bushy ? Im keeping the light close about 2 inches. I read about how you can start flowering (12/12) when they are short , but how do you guys do this with autos since they flower on their own?
