I just want some fresh food.. so much to ask ? lol.. Anyway enough about my backyard.. this thread is for my happy MaryJane plants...HK and TH my girls to be !! that does suck, hey if the hair can get in thru your intake then so can any other foreign matter, I am a firm beleiver in filtering the air coming and going, a very cheap and simple fix, go to walmart to the section where they sale paint and supplies buy a pack of painters mask, I think there are 6 in the pack for 2 bucks cover your intake with them air can move but no more hair or anything else.......

Dude, thats freaking genius, I think I have one or two of those masks kicking around at work that no1 uses.. Ya sure it won't effect the air flow, I mean its going to slow it a bit I"d assume.. but thats still a great idea.. when I get home tonight i"ll take everything out of the box, give the floor a little vaccum and washing and that way it'll be a nice clean fresh start..

Great Idea D, much appreciated man..It's too late to get all the fur out of the pots (mind u its not really that much) but this will prevent it from even the possibility of getting "worse"

Thanks again,

glad to help friend and I am using them in my grow and my airflow is fine I am sure it slows down the air a bit, but they are designed to allow air to flow thru.........

Yes good idea with the air filters... I don't think hair will hurt anything... but like bigd said... who knows what else goes in.

Burning down your garden.. WTF?... that really sucks man... and can't think of why any body would do that.. I mean I have had my car keyed and even a broken window before.. but burning down a garden... that's messed up man..

At least your little girls are safe and sound inside =]

Evening Update 8/25

Just words tonight, no pics as theres really nothing new to show, however I'll have pics in the morning as theres always something to show :) So, I forgot the masks at work like a goof, however I'll grab some at the dollar store tomorrow or work on Wednesday. Its been boggling my mind all day long as to why someone would go and torch my garden. Only a few ppl even knew about it so I have a pretty narrow pool of suspects.. Anyway on to the happy safe plants...

HK
She's looking good, nice fat leaves with a nice deep green. Shes going to be nice and bushy I'm quite excited for the power growth of flowering !! Something I've noticed the past day or two is that the "problem" leaves of a day or two ago are really small and seemingly insignificant leaves in the whole picture now. Not that I have a tonne of leaves here yet but I have atleast 2 new sets above the problem leaf and no problems on the new ones. This same observation goes for TH.

TH
Same to say as HK really except for a more Sativa type plant. Nice light green leaves, starting to get nice long and thin like a good sativa !! I'm not too worried about flowering height as I'm going to keep it short and prune as I have too.

Well thats about it for tonight, Its been one hell of a long day. I'm going to smoke a joint and head to bed. Good night everyone, update in the morning !

You know FT.. what happened to your garden just reminded me of something my brother and I got into when we were young kids lol...

we were playing with matching.. I guess I don't need to say more lol... but any way.. we stayed away from the dry grass in the empty lot and instead went by a bush garden. We had some old toys and firecrackers (fun) Not realising that the dry bark used to line the garden made excellent kindling.. the rest is history... I don't think the neighbors ever found out why or who burnt there bushes..lol I know I should laugh about it... but it's been a long time... trust me, me and my bro were definitely not laughing back then... and to this day I do feel bad about it..... Any way... could it have been just a couple of kids playing around?

lol, its funny you should bring up that store.. Perhaps when I was younger a friend and I "accidentally" started a "small" fire that burnt half way up someones house.. completely accident of course.. quite innocent were me and my friend !!.. lol.. It could have been a possibility however the time frame it happened or I think it happened makes that VERY unlikely... I was up till about 3am and I wake up around 6:30 -7 am.. the size of the fire, and my window is always open I woulda smelt it .. so I'm guessing it was very very late night.. too late for lil kids too be out.. more likely some drunk or high person .. probably my asshole neighbor although I just don't' understand why...

Morning update in roughly an hour !!

8/26 Morning Update

First thing is I'd like to welcome Token Para to the thread. Whats up man, if you guys get a chance go check out his journal.. ok shameless plugs done now.. lol..On to da plants...

Ok so this morning I'm not full of words considering I'm saying the same things every morning.. lol.. Today I took 9 pics total 5 reg/macro and then my usual 4 Sharpie shots (which is going to change soon to something bigger lol)

HK - Looking great ! I'm glad she got through whatever her little raise the roof problem had been which could have been the natural nutes too strong and now that shes bigger shes flourishing in the same nutes. This plant is going to CRAZY COMPACT. I'm quite excited and thats with no LST or topping or NOTHING..

Look at all the lil growth on the main stem.. sooooo many little leaves popping off, the picture doesn't do it proper justice.

Something else I forgot to mention above, since my garden was torched outside I'm starting a few (one of each; tomato, cucumber, pea) small plants in my grow box along with my 2 girls.. So because of this and the fact my temps have lowered I added 2 more bulbs to the mix 1 6500K and 1 2700K just for a wider spectrum.

Thats about all there is for this morning, todays my day off so I might tinker a bit with DIY and what not.. Oh and either today or tomorrow is watering day.. Would you guys (wolf, D, ) Still go ahead and give it a nice big flush or just my usual heavy watering ?

Thanks, and Have a fantastic day Everyone !!

Alrighty so like I said I'm in a bit of a DIY type mood and I wanted to tinker with the box today and do at least one thing to improve it !

So heres what I decided .. my lights don't have reflectors and even though the inside of my box is white, I have mylar and was too lazy to put it on all the walls as I did a short experiment with it and the temps were a bit outta control for me. So anyway having things laying around I decided I'll use a plate + mylar = Tdots Ghetto DIY reflector

Here's my step by step (even though I'm pretty sure a chimp could do this :) )

Tdot's Ghetto DIY CFL Reflector
Materials Required:
-Large paper Plate (Mine is 12" across)
-Scissors
-Mylar or Safety Blanket
-Pen/Marker
-Tape ( I used reflective tape as I just happened to have it, I suppose duct would work too)

Step 1:
I don't think you need to draw the line however I did it just for an example.

Step 2:
Cut out the Line and middle square or circle

Step 3:
Cut out mylar square or circle to fit around outer edge of the plate. Trim it up and flip the plate over.
(sorry forgot to take a pic of this step, bongsmilie :) )

Step 4:
Take your tape and tape the mylar on to the plate in a few places. Make sure its not all wrinkly or you'll lose reflectivity.

Step 5:
Flip it back over and admire your work...

The only other thign I suggest is to copy your cut line and square/circle in the mylar so that the cord can slide through easily.

Step 6:
Place the reflector over the wire and let it rest on the socket.. Voila, ghetto DIY reflector, Tdot Style !

and one last shot from underneath

So thats it, hopefully it'll help atleast one person other than myself. If anyone has any concerns or comments I'm well open to hear and adapt..

Thanks,
-Tdot

Hi there,

I just wanted to leave a post of thanks and congratulations! im a 1st time grower like yourself, using a cabinet stuffed with cfls......like yourself. My grow started a few days after yours and in all fairness i probably didn't spend enough time reading some of the other threads out there before i got started!!! Anyhow, i've kept reading your journal (time and again!) just to "touch base" with someone else in the same boat as me......
.......The main reason i've kept coming back to yours is that i was doing all the same "sprinkling and tinkling" of water every five minutes whilst spending the other 4 1/2 mins poking, prodding and generally just being a nuisance to my seeds / seedlings!!
Until after having read your thread enough times i.....like you got to grips with NOT playing with them all the time!! As a result i now have 5 seedlings (100% germ followed by 100% sprouting = total fluke!!) the first 3 are Ice from Nirvana Seeds and the other 2 are feminised Skunk #11 from Dutch Passion (I know thats probably a bit much for my little cab but i got panicked at the start and thought i'd cocked the first lot up!)

The reason for the post is to give thanks (and prove the forum system actually works).....so thanks to you FT for keeping a decent journal, i've learnt loads from your steps a few ahead of mine and also my thanks to ALL of your contributors, their advice and your trials and tribulations have been heard over here in England, and so dedicate my seedlings to you guys!! I've named one of my Ices Wolf and another Bigd in Honour of 2 of your most helpful and ive named one of my fem'd Skunk 11s FT.

Id put a pic of them up but ive been a housebuilder for 15 years and im a bit of a technophobe! (this is my 1st ever post!) Anyways thanks to all....i'll be watching!!

Peace.....Love......etc etc

 Wow, I'm actually lost for words for the first time in a really long time. Thank you, Thank you and well Thank You. I'm so very happy that my excessive posting of updates is actually appreciated and helpful to some. I'm glad things are finally working for you two man. Its a bit of a steep learning curve. I mean you can read and read and read, hell I read for about 5 years before I actually put a seeds in between paper towels for the first time, yet you really don't know till you actually do it. Then to get ALL the correct info in one place without having 12 other conflicting stories can take a while to sort through. I figured if I had a super in depth type journal where I could get a few great contributors (Wolfman, BigD, and now Dr.Chron) All helping out that if ppl took the time to read along hopefully they could get that info and not 100 different things said. Plus by having all the pics you can see what works and what I screwed up before doing it all yourself. Anyway thats about the nicest things someone could say or do, I really appreciate the plant names think thats pretty cool. I"m sure the other guys will feel the same when they see it, lol... Anyway I'm a go :bigjoint: and I'll be back in a little while with an actual update after one day with their new reflector !!

Take care for now,
-Tdot

PS: Thanks Dr. I'm pretty fuck'n proud of it myself... Ghetto, but VERY functional..

8/26 Evening Update

So if you've been reading along you'll know that this morning I made myself a Reflector..I'm actually pretty damn surprised at how well its actually working out. The plants seem to either A) Love my new reflector OR B) Just HAPPENED to have a new spurt of growth and colour and everything TODAY...

I had to move the lights UP for the first time today as I was doing some work after watering and noticed that the lights were warmer on the back of my hand than usual, and from everything I've read if its too hot for me, its probably no good for my babies. So I moved the light up about an 1" - 1.25"inches and I'm not as worried about losing light now that I have the reflector in place.

As for the ladies, well HK has completed its next set of leaves they actually look like a 2nd if not 3rd FULL set of marijuana leaves nice deep green and wide indica. Anyhow I took one picture of her to show you guys tonight !

HK

[By the Way, the pic was taken before I moved the light UP so its closer in the pic than it is now]

TH is in great shape as well, she seems to have stopped growing up and starting to fill out a tiny bit more. I'm mildly concerned for the future as I'm fairly certain TH is 60/40 Sativa and therefore going to take longer to flower in the end. Either way I'll figure that out as I get there.

You can see shes lighter green than HK.

Also on a final note my....
"leaf problem" = GONE
"Raising the Roof" = GONE
"Crane Kick HK Style" = GONE

Just goes to show, be patient.. let time and nature run their course and all will be well.

Have a great night,
-Tdot

Wow mount4... i'm like FT... speechless... but wow.. thanks... Hey FT.. your grow adventure has gained international status... and your helping fellow growers all over the world.. how cool is that:blsmoke:

Mount4 will you be starting a journal?.. I hope so man!.. and make sure you give us a link =] ...

That reflector is genious!
I 2nd that!! =]

FT.. your girls are looking more beautiful by the day... congrats man.. and keep up the good work.

Keep an eye out for lighter coloring or slight yellowing of the lower leaves.. that will be your sign that they need nutes.. but by the way they are looking.. I think they will be fine for a few more day. =]
