I'm in desperate need of a light mover. Hydrofarm seems to be the cheapest but I hear they're poorly made. Any recommendations as to what brand light movers are good? Within $200

Heres my Hydrofarms light mover it works great no problems I cut this 4 footer down to like a foot and took links out of the chain it was no problem.. I think its awesome for the price ! DO NOT hang more than 25 pounds from it.

Lightrail 3.5 for anything under 50 lbs. Look on ebay, you can purchase the motor and rail and all parts seperately. If balanced properly it should last for years and years. The hydrofarm chain drive leaves a little to be desired.

Ya I bought the lightrail 3.5 and I'm still veggin seedlings under the flouro, but soon when they get big enough they'll go under the 400w then when they get bigger and spread out more the light rail will come in.

Balance is key with the lightrail 3.5 and 5.0. Mine is not so happy anymore and likes to slip on the rail. Being willing to tear it apart a little ways to get to the spring to rebend it goes a long ways. Craigslist is a great place to find used ones esp in med states

ur usin a 400 on the rail? better keep it close cuzzo i think ur gonna want a bigger light i have a 1k on my rail and i want another light... =) im able to keep my 1k like 10-15 inches from the top of the canopy. my canopy is about 27 inches deep right now from top buds to dirt, i have 25 plants under it in a 8x8 area but i kept a 1 ft perimeter from the wall so i can walk around/inspect. so really 6x6 how big is your area?

I have the Hydro Farm 4 ft. rails (I also sell hydro Farm products to the MMJ community at 25% to 30% discounts; 4U2), and I like them especially for the price. I see what and why people buy and what gets returned is the best analysis. I also use their cheapest reflector (Wing) which weighs only a pound or so (actually, the socket and cord weigh the most). Works fine although they get out of sync. I have 8- with 600W HPS and run them about 14" from the tops. 144 plants in a 13'8" square but that has a perimeter for those pesky branches. The light rail (4 ft.) actually covers a 6 ft. path from end to end, so my effective square is actually 12 X 12. 1 module/sq.ft @ 33.3 W/sq. ft. The light is sufficient this way rather than using 1,000W stationary. I also just buy the ballast components and wire myself. one doesn't save much, but you get American Transformers that will way outlast the cheap "overseas" made products. Same goes with the rails, but Hydro Farm's is made for them in China.
Craig's list usually has at least 4-5 hydro/reflector/ballast/fans, etc. Daily new entries too, because there are so many people that go and buy a High Times, read an article and decide that a Hydro grow would be 'so easy, I can do that". They buy all this stuff and end up abandoning it all due to the complexities we have all come to know and (love)... They have the money but lack commitment and discipline. Nothing proves more of the commitment than having to drop what you are doing and go and deal with a problem @ 3 in the morning. Keep up the good stuff here; thanks to everyone especially the people that put a lot of work into their posts...
