grow light spectrum

I'm writing this question hoping to get some answers on the lighting spectrum I should use for each stage. From seedling to vegitative stage thru flowering.Also which light and spectrum for the mother. also when i'm ready to clone where to take my clippings from on the mother and after clipping what light and care needs to be taken with the babies.I'm an electrician by trade and I have access to a wide variety of lights. Also have you ever heard of anyone using ultra violet lighting.Any input would be appriciated (livewire)

i guess a blue/white spec for veg and a orange/red/yellow for flowering.??
MH for veg and HPS for flowering works well for me, and has for many others as well.

it's blue/red blue for veggie and red for flowering cfls contain a high amount of both and have a wide spectrum but hid and hps have alot more so cfls for cheap long grow hps or hid for fast. i use all cfls for all stage thats just me i know what im doing and get almost the same yeild but 90% of people will say they use floros for veggies and clones and hid or hps for budding.

I'm not to keen on UVB lights myself... to much of a health risk fer me. My stronger herb is enough to make me go to sleep, so I don't feel I need the UVB for potency anyways.

if you were going to use uvb lights, would you need special ballasts for it, or just regular flouro/cfl fixtures?

Thewood, given the fact that I am completely stupifidely stoned, I must point out your avatar. I was just thinking. . . . . . . . .. . .. . . . All of the money the government would make from whatever, PLUS all of the supplies all of the growers would buy?! Agway will fucking sell out!

you want to look for bulbs that say 6400k on them for vegging and 2700k for flowering .

does any one know if green light of the kelvin spectrum gets absorbed by the plant and is it better than blue light

we see the plants as green because plants reflect green and dont use it for photosynthesis.
