Grow Lights

I started my plants from seed in miracle grow germination soil and they are growing fine, but it's almost time for the flowering stage. Problem is my old man is worried about the power consumption if I switch from just an ordinary fluorescent light 24/7 to a HPS 12/12. I'm only using 1 fluorescent light for a few plants, and i will probably only use 1 HPS light as well. Just wondering if anyone could tell me how much it would affect the power bill.

This requires math... Whats the wattage of each light?

Too many variables to answer your question. How many watts are you cfls? How many watts is the hps going to be? You need fans for air circulation? Etc....

I ran 600w 12/12 but I also used inline fans for ventilation and it increased my bill about 45$ a month.

i looked on the light i'm currently using but i couldnt find a wattage...i guess i was just generally asking a ball park figure on how much the price would increased if i replaced your average fluorescent light with maybe a 150 watt hps?

I run a 1000W HPS bulb at 12/12, a 400W HPS bulb 20/4 and 2 60W bulbs 24/7. Total of 4 bulbs, 2 HID, costs me about $100 a month.
