Hello everyone, Hafstep here,
still new on these forums, RIU specifically, so this is my first grow thread from my last grow over the winter. I've been an avid TGA fan for awhile, since sub was over at BBay and love the gear. i love JTR, Cheesequake, JCII, and others, but this might be my favorite yet.
I aquired these last 4/20/12 on the Attitude promotion of buy a 10-pack and get a free 5-pack of Qush, as that was the release date. I was up early in the morning to jump on that one. You could also buy 2 5-packs, and for multiple reasons: wanting to try a few new lines, knowing TGA's gear always has great germ rates, and female:male ratios, and always keepers; so I opted for the 2 5-packs and got Ace of Spades, as I wanted Plushberry but there were only 10-packs, and I got Cheesequake. Both real tasty, both finicky, but great.
So the Qush was really great, and I highly reccomend it to anyone looking for a decent med strain w/out couchlock, any TGA fan, or anyone looking for a decent representation of Bubba in seed form, as I've had a few different %50 hybrid's of pre-98 Bubba, and this is def my favorite so far. The next best was Dynasty's "Caramel Candy Kush", and I got an orange creamscicle pheno from that, literally tasted like nothing but that, but it had a low cieling, good effects, but low cieling, and didnt end up running it twice to be sure, and that was the best of 3, only keeper worthy. These Qush's all were.
So, for those whom don't know the lineage of these, they are:
Qush = (pre-98 Bubba x Space Queen)
pre-98 Bubba is an Afghani indica-dom clone only w/ classic Afghani terpenes and effects.
Space Queen is by Brother's Grimm and is made of the Romulan clone-only hit with their Cindy99 male. The male used in the Qush cross is an F1 dubbed "space dude" or "the dude". Definitely one of the best proven males Ive seen from any breeder.
So, more about the grow.
These were from seed, in a grow of all seed, ending with about 35-30 females under a total of 1400 watts. It was run w/ 2 Hortulix BLUE 400W MH's on each side of a Hortilux Super HPS 600W.
They were grown organically in a custom soil mix.
They were vegged in FoxFarms Hapy Frog soil w/ worm castings and perlite.
In flower, the soil mix was basically 1:1 Foxfarm's Happy Frog and Ocean Forest potting soils, amended with worm castings, a good amount, coco coir, perlite, a little GH Rare Earth and Azomite.
They were fed with base nutes of AN's Iguana Juice Grow and Bloom, along with some supplements and also AACTs.
They were germed in paper towels in ziplocks with municiple tap water (for Ca, Mg, clorine, cloramine) and a little hydrogen peroxide. This is all for a few reasons. The clorine, cloramine and peroxide all protect against the seeds rotting from mould and will kill most bacteria or any microbes unwanted that made it in the bags. Tap water also has Ca and Mg in decent levels, and tap roots need Ca to grow, so it helps. They prefer to wake into at least a slight amount of available minerals opposed to say RO or distilled water, which I use RO water for actually growing. Also, the peroxide helps against any rot by breaking down into O2 and H2O and chemically making more oxygen available to the seed which promotes healthy root growth, gerination in the first place, and helps prevent anaerobic bacteria from being able to take any hold.
They were sown into 16oz party cups in just Happy frog and perlite, and were let to veg in those for 3-4 weeks, and then into 1-gal poly bags of the veg mix for another 1.5 mnths, then into 3-gal ploy bags 1.5-2 wks prior to bloom for finishing as their final containers, and planted in the flowering mix. You want your root system to take holfd of its new home before initiating bloom so it has gotten used to it's new environment and to make sure there was no transplant shock when you're about to change the light cycle and force the plants into flowering which doesn't happen in nature, heh.
So, without further au due, some pics of these beauties.
Hope you all enjoy and if you haven't already, give this badass strain a try.
So, here you go...
About 2 weeks before initiating bloom, right before 3-gal x-plants

Day 41 Flower
Qush#1 , Qush#1 , Qush#4 , Qush#4 .
Qush#5 , Qush#5
Qush's #1 & #4 finished, 10 weeks
Qush#1 full , Qush#1 cola
Qush#4 full1 , Qush#4 full2 , Qush#4 cola1 , Qush#4 cola2
Somehow I lost my pics of phenos#5 finished, dont ask me how. Anyway, it came out looking like exactly in between phenos 1 and 4, but it wasn't quite as potent or dense as either, and I picked both 1 and 4 as my keeper phenos, #1 being the more Bubba-dom pheno, and pheno #4 I call my purple candy pheno. It still has bubba terpenes in it, its just more sweet and actually has some slight fruity and even slight grape undertones, and slightyly more funky, not skunky though. #1 is more earthy, a little coffee, sweet, thick, slighly musky, a little hashy, and some slight swett fruity undertones, but very slightly. Far more bubba dom w/out the coffee terpene. Earthy and hashy yes, maybe slight lemon, but not really coffee, at least not off the seed run, which this was.
Im currently running both phenos#1 & #4 from clone, and truly organic, no salts whatsoever, and they're coming along quite nice, and I expect they will finish a little earlier. They absolutely could of been taken down at 8.5 wks, 9 would prolly be optimal, but I had other things taking up my time trimming, as the room was like 30 plants finishing at all around a 2 week window, and took about 2.5 weeks to get everything down and trimmed. I hate trimming. But love the hash it makes.
So, again, sorry for no finished pics of pheno#5, but #1s and 4 are the keepers anyway, #5 was a little bit of a Mg hound as was #1 I think, but #4 grew the healthiest as it was directly under the Hortilux BLUE, in a better reflector than the other MH, and no glass taking the UV out of the spectrum, so It came out quite nice. They all did though. #5 was absolutely keeper worthy, just didn't need 3 phenos, and was plenty happy with 1 and 4. This is definitely a strain I would recommend to anyone and eventually plan on getting a full 10-pack or two, and running them to learn the line better, find other phenos, and hopefully finding a decent male for F2s and hybrids. I really wish I kept a male and F2'd these. One of my new alltime favorites, and one of my favorites of my current moms. Can't wait to try both from clone in a TLO grow, and their coming along nicely for this new way Im doing my organics.
Thanks for checking out my grow everyone,
-peace
