Grow Room Design

Hello, I wanted to show you boys my future grow room design. There will be (2) tents each measuring 7x7' put into my garage. Inside each tent you will find (2) 600 watt Sun Systems Cool Sun Reflector's (air cooled). You will also find a Ebb and Flow Flood and Drain system in each tent. The two lights in each tent will be cooled by individual 8" Can Fan's. Inside the tent's there will also be a standup oscilating fan and a 7000 btu portable air-conditioner.

I attached a picture I drew in MS paint that illustrates the set-up! Please give me some feedback boys! :weed:

(I would totally make the room out of plywood and 2x4's with insulation, etc. but I'm just a girl without much assistance so this will have to suffice.)

Just a girl, eh?

Well grow tents work just as well, plus if you have to rip it all down in a flash, you can.

If I'm reading your sketch correctly, you'll be running air that was used to cool one tent's reflectors, into the next....might want to make have seperate intakes and you can join them together when you exhaust it, otherwise that second tent will have air pumped into the reflectors that is already pretty hot. If you have two reflectors per tent already, you might have heat issues using the same air for all 4.

Yep, I realized that too when I was finished!

I'll run each exhaust from each tent into a Y-Connecting piece located outside and away from the tents, and then I'll push that air into a carbon filter and out of the garage.

That should resolve the heat issue pretty much.

:-)

If you were already planning on having two fans I'd go ahead and just buy/make a second carbon filter and run each tent separately. Don't really see the advantage of chaining them together.

The only reason I'd connect both is for convenience. But I do see your point! Not to mention I'd probably get a lot of negative/back pressure from merging both ducts into one. I might as well run each separately! I love constructive criticism, so please keep it coming guys!

Yea it's a pretty sweet set up, but like Tech said, it's only a convenience issue if anything. Sounds like you have this one down though, How many plants you thinking of getting inside all together?

Yep, but I want to measure convenience against performance as well... and I plan on running 30-36 plants per tent to allow room for fans/ac/etc.

A little off topic here xxplosive42o but you might want to check out Paint.net as an alternative to MS Paint.

I haven't used it in awhile since I own Photoshop but I was pretty impressed with it as a free solution.

Thank you guys for the support and input!

GrimReefa, the tent is 7'x7'. Even if I used 1' diameter pots I could put 49 in there, but I need some room to fit a small A/C Unit + Fan.

Im not going to use the "SOG Method" exactly, but I do put all my 5 gallon buckets touching.

NOTE: I have all of the equipment excluding the tents already, I'm just waiting on UPS to show up ;-)

hmmmmm, intresting, suppose it could work i have no experience usin these other systmes, DWC or whatever, drip systems, hydro ponics, i always used soil, so different and alot of work involved, but in these auto mated system i suppose u can pack ya room out, and if u get 30 in each thats 60!!!! wonder what you get of each, if u use SOG u can get half ounce + of each ladie, u using 1200w of light per 7x7 tent, this equals a lot of good bud im sure.......good luck sounds a good plan hunny, when you sorting this lot out then i wanna seee!!! i got a little grow on the go now check it out........x

I have some experience with soil as well! This grow I currently have going is soil. Im gonna be glad when its over though! Im tired of mixing nutes with water in seperate 5 gallong jugs! It's such a pain in the ass! This go-around I'm equipped with (2) Ebb and Flow Flood & Drain Bucket Systems each consisting of 36 buckets which ammounts to 72 plants total! Plus I'll only have (2) 55 gallon drums to prepare once a week! Makes my life alot easier! hehe

I'll post up pics of my current setup, and when my next session begins in a month using my new equipment I will post pics up as well.

72 plants, one ounce of each and ya laughing, 2 kilos ??? !!!!!!!!! yea soil is a right pain in back side , but taste the best so i go with it, may try these other setups, but i heard there most room for error in soil, hydro is the worst, not sure tho gooood luck, look forward to it

24 plants in an 8'x8'? In 5 gallon containers? That doesn’t make sense.

You should easily be able to put 30 in there.

GrimReefa, as far as soil being easier than hydro? I beg to differ because with hydro everything is pretty much automated. Even adjusting the PH is simply a matter of adding PH Up/Down to the reservoir and using a meter. With soil plants you have to figure out what to adjust the PH of the water/nuts to before adding to the soil because soil mediums always contain elements that affect the PH. in addition, soil grown plants suffer from a HUGE variety of bugs that begin their earlier life spans inside the soil beneath the plant. With hydro the larvae cannot survive. There are many other advantages but those two just stand out to me.

but u fail to mention the fact that if some thing goes wrong with hydro its harder to get back, and soil plants can handle a lot more stress and crap, the hydro seem to die often than not, i menat its easy for the in experienced grower to grow in soil as there more room for error, hydro is less for giving hun

and soil tatse better and is more natural for the ladies than these systmes for quicker crops :d i prefer tatse and quality over quickness of crops to be honest

These things get 4-6ft tall and around three ft wide, they get crowded at times...I could jam more in there, but I don't want it to be impossible...

You'll only need ONE 8" fan for that setup - placed at the Beginning of the chain pushing the air (That way if you have any leaks in the system - you wont be sucking dirty air to your exhaust

Also - why not butt the rooms right up next to each other and use ONE A/C ? Vent air using a cheap blower into/out of each room to exchange air !.

I actually do BOTH of these tricks in my Mother/Cloning/Veg rooms.
