Grow Room Plans with Picture of Layout

I have decided to build a grow box and put it in a closet in my spare bedroom. The closet is 5' (Deep) x 4.5' (Wide) x 9' (Tall). The box I am putting in will have 2 sides with 3 chambers. The box will be 3.5' (Deep) x 4.5' (Wide) x 6' (Tall). I am going to make two main chambers, one for veg (3.5' Deep x 1.5' Wide x 6' Tall) and one for flowering (3.5' Deep x 3' Wide x 6' Tall). The veg chamber will be two smaller chambers, one being up top for clones 1.5' Wide x 2' Tall. The bottom part of that chamber will be for mothers and will be 1.5' Wide x 4' Tall. I want to end up flowering like 3-4 plants at a time. I am planning to use a passive intake active exhaust for ventilation with an inline duct fan like Inductor 6 In. In-Line Duct Booster Fan - DB206 at The Home Depot used for the exhaust. I just need to figure out how to wire that fan so I can just plug it into an outlet. I am planning to build the box out of wood using thin particle board or similar for the walls and lining it with mylar sheeting. I am growing Joey Weed Blueberry and Cindy 99 x AK47.

Here is the layout:

What does everyone think? Any ideas? Suggestions?

Sounds like a good layout for the rooms, just a few questions.

How much money you looking to spend ?
Any lights in mind for veg area ? 400hps cooltube?
Hydro or soil?
Electricty in the room and how much ?

The fan from HD would work but i would get a better one, your looking for a high CFM number. 160 would just make problems for you later, and how many fans are you thinking of for outtake, flower/veg ?

Went throw allot in growing rooms man spent way to much money having to make changes each grow, hahaha and yet agian i just made some more trying to dial it in. Dont rush it think about it take the extra month or two, to save money and plan it right, seriously!!

any pics ?

I really like the simple setup those HTG Supply fans have. They have a 4", 6", and 8". The 4" - 80CFM, 6" - 160CFM, 8" - 300CFM. What about if I use 2 of the 6" fans in the flowering chamber with a decent size passive intake? I will be using CFLs in the Veg side for clones and mothers. With just CFLs on that side will I still need to exhaust? If I do, what about if I make a passive intake at the bottom of the mother veg chamber and a 4" exhaust in both the mother and clone chambers and run ducting from those two outtake holes into a Y splitter with a 6" duct fan pulling air out of both of those chambers since they should not get too hot without a HID? If using one fan for the mother and clone sections together will not work I could do a passive intake and 4" exhaust duct fan from HTG supply in each of those chambers, which would set me up with 2 6" exhaust duct fans in the flower chamber and 2 4" fans in the veg chambers, one in with mothers and one with clones. How does that sound? The HPS I am using in the flowering chamber I bought from HTGSupply a couple years ago but never turned on. It will not have a cool tube.

OK HTG is good but i found http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/ has better prices and more prodcuts to choose from.

Cooltube
If your not doing a cooltube its going to get hot really hot, i would at least do a DIY cooltube, closer you can get the lights to the top of the plants the better harvest you will get!

Outtake
Clone Mother area, i really not sure how hot cfls get so i am just guessing they dont get to hot, make a hole at the top of each chamber with a pc or puck fan pushing the heat from the mother room to the clone room then from the clone room out into the flowering room or out of the closet.
Flower area, would get a nice size cfm like this one , try it with out a cooltube if you can not get the temps around 75 i would make a cooltube or buyone.

looks good but it will be warm with a 400. cooltubes help a bunch. from my 4x4x8 room. I will bet you have temps over 90. the 400 will start about 3' or more off the ground and go up from there. Sorry I'm not sure how to word this. As the plant grows taller it will be faced with more heat. Heat rises. Even with a 6" fan it will be hard to pull the heat away from the light. If this doesn't make sence let me know and I'll try to reword it.

I completely agree here I've found great prices on a lot of items.

As for the fan I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.com/New-6-Inch-Inline-Exhaust-Cooling-Duct-Fan-Vent-Blower_W0QQitemZ280278994464QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4141ee0e20

it should prove to be much better quality than those value fans elsewhere.

Keep in mind there is a big difference in the "duct booster" fan you had mentioned and these inline fan designs. When pulling air through ducting you'll need a powerful fan and not just a higher CFM rating. CFM does not equal sucking power (insert mom joke here)

i have that same light, cords are long enough for the ballast to reach outside the room.

I made mine into a cooltube was not to hard, takes a little time and some know how.
Was it necessary to make the cool tube or do you think it would have been fine without it with one or two exhaust fans in the room?

For that small of area you need the cooltube, to get the light close to the top of the plants closer you can get the light better harvest. With out the cooltube i had to have them 2 feet away from the lights lots of strech and they still burnt plus the temp was 85 at the coldest.

cooltubes suck, they take away from the lumens but then are the shit because you can get your light about 6 inchs away with out a burn so it just matters on your grow room and with your setup, unless you had two big outtake fans and a closed unit AC would be the only way i would run a 400 or bigger in there with out a cooltube
