Grow room problems

Okay ive finally got everything and have started germinating. I have a 10 gal tub with a 18 inch air stone in the bottom. 600w light system hps/mh. 5-3inch net pots using rockwool and hydro rocks. I soaked the rockwool for a few hours then (after draining the cubes) I planted my seeds in the rockwool with the system all setup. I have the res water level touching the bottom of the net pots.

The room is 84 F with 45% humidity. Will they germinate? or am I doing it all wrong? Do the lights need to be on?

I turned the whole thing on for 3 hours last night and the room got to
114 F and 23% humidity. I guess a exhaust fan is needed once they start growing up. The room is a closet with 2 sections divided with shelves in the middle. both sides have a clearing of about 3 feet X 2 feet. im good on height. Any good exhuast/cooling ideas?

Thanks guys.

Everything sounds like it'll be ok as long as that 114 degree shock didn't dry out the rockwool. Keep that 600w far away for quite some time. They should start popping up soon, check the PH, and no nutes for a little while.

start your 18/6 light cycle now. Yes they will germinate when the light is on. Your temps are way too high. sounds like a furnace at 114. Any pics of your set up? You are going to need to get that temp down fast. How are you venting out hot air? circulation in room? ac? pics?

go to where u purchased your light, tell them your setup and they will provide you whats necessary, for now leave the closet door open and during vegitation 600 watts isnt necessary, go buy some 10$ CFL's to keep the heat down until your ready to bloom, hopefully by that time you have your closet ventilated....

best of luck

hey vizion, no need for the sarcasm.... i am not too familiar with cfl's just the t5's i use.... but many people here use them..... i just know that cfl's and t5's (i prefer the t5's for vegitation, but both work great for vegitation, and they will help bring that temp down)..

go check out the CFL forums and i bet theres alot of knowledge floating around there, or you can check this site out for ideas on t5's

www.midwesthydroponics.com i buy the HO T5'S... The TEK lights are spendy, i buy the China knock offs...... but they work great.

Okay I bought 4 CFLs that are 3-Way thing. It can use 50 100 150 watts. I dont really understand how the 3 way thing works but it was the highest amount of watts I could find a cfls in. Anyone know how these work? I bought 2 big heat lamp clamps that can handel up to 250w(the ones with the big clamps behind them). and used a 1 to 2 splitter in each. The cfls acctually only can use up to 30 watts. so I figured the hood wood be more than enough. Is this safe? or am I pushing some sort of limit?

three way is for a lamp with a twisty thing for a switch so every time you twist it gets brighter, if you arent using a three way switch i dont know what setting the default will be. it might not be as bright as it could be. and no your not pushing any limits.

hmm I wonder what the default wattage is....... I wonder if I can get and adapter or something for the 3 way switch.
