Grow room question

I hope it's not a dumb question. I know what SOG/SCROG are, but i just can't wrap myself around a question :
A friend has a big attic ready to build a growroom in (around 322sqf) where he's gonna be building a 215sqf flower room and a 100sqf veg room.
In which way is his yield going to be bigger/faster, using SOG/SCROG or just growing bigger but lesser plants ?
Do you think it's enough space to harvest 5-6lbs / month on average?Considering plants are growing in optimum conditions of course (veg room has CFL for clones+6X600w MH, flower room 8 X 1000w HPS, best temp/correct airflow/ph/water ppm/nutes etc.)
Thanks !

Sup bro, pretty new myself... but i would think you would get larger buds = more yield from SCROG, but at the same time SOG you would harvest more often with smaller buds. Not sure which one would equal more. Both will produce a lot in that large of a space. Hopefully one of the vets and clear it up a lil.. pretty large space, and you always want to get the most out of it. Good luck!

Take it from me, scrog over sog buddy! Sog for faster harvesting once clones root. Scrog for a nice fat budded yield! Search youtube for videos!

Not going to happen with only one 1kw HPS bro, sorry.

Figure .5 grams per watt (500g or just shy of 2 ounces over a pound),and best case scenario (easier said than done) 1gpw (1,000g or just shy of 1 1/4 pounds).

If wanting to do monthly perpetuals you'll need to throw plants into flower in stages, like half the room, then 30 days later the other half...

1g/watt=1000g=35.71oz=2.23lbs. Not gonna happen on that amount of light. Also if you or your friend is new to growing 99% sure you will not hit 1g/watt. If you do you are on your way, on the more plant count vs bigger plants- think about the upkeep on more smaller plants vs fewer bigger plants. How much time do you all have to tend to the garden. My suggestions would be 2-3 plants per 1000w light. Long veg time (longer then 30 days). I have a friend that has a 10k operation and he is doing 3.5 every other week, he has 5 flower units with 18 plants per unit so think about that not to mention the veg room. Thats alot of plants just in flower 18x5=90 plants

Not trying to be negative but just giving my opinion and some facts about yield expectations.

Why not have your friend post and we can help him directly? To take a newbie to growing cannabis and try to filter knowledge and advice through you to him won't work. So tell your friend to sign on and we'll help as we can.

Ok it's me i'm talking about, i was being a little paranoid :)

Equipment and light wise, it'd be much closer a possibility. However, as was said earlier, the logistics of moving the plants through stages to get the harvest frequency you want will require separating the rooms a bit further.

Thanks for a very satisfying reply. I'll be having around 11 000W (8000w in flowering room only) I'm new to it so i'm definately NOT gonna hit 1g/W but i still love your answer,i'm very perfectionist and i hope to reach at least 0,6g/w . Also I will be tending the garden 24/7 . If i put 2-3 plants for 1000W, i won't be having more than 24 plants in flowering.. i hoped i would be able to squeeze more than 24 plants in 8000w.

Your friend has 5 flower units, each with 6000W ? Or did i not get it right ?

Thanks, but still my question remains : will scrog be better/more yield than normal big'plants growing?

I was thinking of ~100sqf veg room 6X600w and some CFL, and ~215sqf flower room with 8X1000W as two separate rooms. Any advice on using the space i have available better than this ?

Well, this is assuming you're growing a strain whose timetable fits ~2 months in veg, but I think that'd be a good flow to set up. Come to think of it, you could just do one room and do a FIFO shift to ensure proper flowering time for each batch of plants.

I am not sure exactly how many lights he has per flower unit. Now were you planning on doing hydro or soil??

It's doable but you are going to be very, very, very, busy. IF you enlist help from friends you're more likely to get caught as you have more chances of someone talking.

Just imagine how long it will take you to LST one plant, now times that by the number of plants you will put into flower at one time. This will have to be done once a month.
Automate as much as you can - lights, feeding, pH level in the res
Geez, lot of work. Hope you like lots of work. Time for a bong.

Oh and forget soil if you want to get the turn over you want, I'd suggest coco as it is pretty easy but similar to soil while still growing plants faster. Set them up on a drip line to a res. then you're only mixing 2 or 3 batches of nutes once a week.

How do you plan to remove and mask the heat output of 11,000 watts? Also how about the power, that kind of usage is likely to raise suspicion. Gonna need a split system in there so more power usage.

I'm thinking about it as a full time job already,i don't see it as work,im very hyped about it. Only two people know about this and they will also be helping when trimming/drying, but they are family and i completly trust them.
I kindof abandoned the perpetual grow ideea, i'm just gonna do one grow at a time.Since is such a big project for me and soil is more forgiving, i'm going to do it like this for the first time, then i'm thinking hydro or coco..
Long story short, i'm not paying electricity (nor stealing it) so i'm off the radar with this.
I'm still thinking about the heat problem, but there's nothing more i can do except air-cooled light reflector HPSs and 1/2 powerful ACs.. What do you think ?

as long as you are planning to have 3 or 4 separate ducted lines (insulated) to cool the lights you will have a better chance with the heat.

personally I would get a few smaller grows under my belt before I went massive.
Have you considered having a mother room and using clones? It would be much easier than seeds for such a large number of plants. Then just have one large grow room that you switch from veg to 12/12 since the perpetual grow is off the cards.
