Grow Setup

So after thought and further research I have decided to start my first grow in soil with an Indica dominant strain. I will be starting with 10 seeds and will be keeping the plants at about 3' tall each as I've read artificial light only penetrates 3' into the garden. Give or take 3-5 plants as turning out to be male, is there a tent capable of holding 5-7 3' plants? Also, what wattage of HPS should I be using for this number of plants?

Figure your wattage based on the size of the grow area, not the number of plants. Plants can take up widely varying amounts of space depending on how you control them.

I got a grow den brand 4x4 tent off eBay for $115. It's a good place to start I think. I got 4 plants in there. Under a 1000 watt mh cause it was free. I'd like to get a 600 watt hps too. Any bigger and you'll need to double up on lights and buy more expensive fans.

I see. So then how much space does one plant need to grow well? For example, will the above mentioned 4x4 have sufficient enough space for 5-7 plants to thrive in? and after knowing my grow area, is there a rule of thumb for sqft to wattage ratio?
