Grow tent setup, a little help needed

So im setting up a growing tent and im new to indoors so im hoping that i havent overlooked anything
im going to be growing in a 2.4m x 1.2m x 2m tent with two 1000w hps lights with a cooltube and a separate carbon filter. but im not sure if the cooltube will work the way i set it up
Its going to be set up in a way that one fan does both lights, i cant work out to explain in so i'll just do a sketck

xxxxxxxx.jpg

Will the fan be big enough to cool 2 1000w lights?
The lights will be setup so that each light covers a half of the tent
The plants will be growing in individual dwc buckets, i was thinking 9 plants under each light, so 18 all up. that means each plant has 40cm x 40cm and will be in a Scrog style so that they get as big as they can in the space and make the space as efficient as possible

Comments? just wondering if it could be better, i would probably also use a co2 generator

Hey bud, couple comments.

You should use 600w lights. They will be more than sufficient to cover that space; they will be easier to cool; and they will allow you to keep you lights closer to the plants. 2 1000w lights in a tent is extremely difficult to cool and because of their size and wattage it is very hard to get your plants within 18" without burning them which usually means you have height restrictions on your plants. Plus 2 1000w lights in a space that small is light overkill. 600w lights will more then do the job.

I would vent you lights in a straight line. Don't do a "T". Just set your fan up on 1 side and pull straight through your lights and out of the tent. This will be much more efficient. If you want you can set your carbon filter up on 1 side of the cooltube and pull from your tent, through the carbon filter, then trhough the lights and out the tent. This will vreate negative pressure in your tent.

Good luck bud.

Phillip just gave the best advice I think you'll get. Two 1kW in a tent is asking for trouble, not to mention the load would not carry on a single circuit in a home. The 250cfm fan will not cool those lights.

Is there a better way i could cool the lights? i would prefer to use the 1000w lights
i dont think that using that much power is a bad idea, using 1000w lights is better than 600's is the general opinion of most people i have spoken to. they penetrate further on the plants. also using 2000w on 18 plants is only 110w per plants, thats not a huge amount

you said vent with a straight line and with the carbon filter attached?? you talked about the lights getting too hot and suggest that this will be better?
with a cooltube set up like that the second light will be exponentially hotter because it is being cooled by hot air from the first light and putting the carbon filter on the intake of the cooltube will reduce the fans pulling power by 10%

does anyone else have an opinion on whether or not the lights will be cool enough. with that fan each light has 59 litres pass through it every second, how much more would i need

Need like 2x 8" or 12" high velocity fans, circuit wiring like other poster said. Can't run 2kw on same circuit.

Using 1000w lights is not better. They give your more footprint and penetration WHEN NEEDED. You don't need it. You basically have a 4x8 tent that is 6' tall. With 1000w lights in that tent you will not be able to grow plants much taller than 2'6"-3' or else you risk burning your plants or light bleaching them. The optimal footprint of a 600w light is 4x4 at 12" from the canopy. You won't be sacrificing any footcandles; you don't need the penetration in a tent; the electricity costs will be lower; and cooling the tents will be a lot easier. If anyone tells you that 1000w lights are better that 600w lights then they are wrong. It totally depends on the situation and in your situation they are NOT better; they are overkill and will be VERY prohibitive to your growing.

Cool tubes or vented hoods; either one will be fine but not with the fan that you have. You need a high output inline fan. Buy a quality one that actually achieves their advertised CFM rating. Look at the Vortex or Can fans. It doesn't matter that you are pulling the first lights air through the second light. I have 4 1000w lights in a row with 1 fan. The idea is to clear the hot air away from the bulb so that it does not resinate out into the grow room via the glass or hood. With a proper size fan the air will not be in the ducting or first hood long enough to heat up substantially anyway. Adding the carbon filter to the hoods and pulling the air from your tent will save you from having to buy another fan for the carbon filter and will create negative pressure in your room which will help you maintain cooler temperatures.

I would listen to Phillip. I grew in a 4x8 with 2x1000w and it was a pain - I would have been much better off with 600s which is why I use them now in my 4x4 tents. Straight line exhaust like Phillip said as well, you'll have much better airflow

Aussie - What temperatures will the containing room be? That too is going to effect internal temps (unless pulling cold air from somewhere else). Phillip seems to be on point with his advice, maybe I would suggest searching "1000w in tent" and seeing if anyone was having issues. Cheers on the decision to grow mate!

Hey mate. You can get cool tubes that cool the bulb down. All u have to do is attach a strong inline fan with ducting to the cool tube and it reduces the heat atleast 50%

everyone is saying the same thing bro and they are right if you are stuck on 1k get digital ballasts that you can dim to 600 and see the difference yourself.... for sure they will be too hot with that fan it will take less than an hour with either the 600 or 1k on to figure that out probably need 400+ cfmto handle that probably 600+ cause of the filter at the end unless you vent the lights separately and scrub the tent with another fan attached filter. ambient temp you are pulling from outside the tent like mentioned will affect things too cause the lights no matter what will produce heat in the tent that will raise your temps.
