why not get that cool apartment next year you guys were already thinking about getting, giving you a place that is 10000% more safe than any dorm. Also if you wait..... you can SAVE YOUR MONEY on lower quality items.. such as cfls over an hps or mh (which would give you much better buds)

By not doing something somewhat supid (ive known people that have grown in dorms) you will be able to buy much better tools to help you grow MUCH better quality and quantity buds in a MUCH safer location...

Overall dorms=Bad (not yours) House = Good (really safe) Apartment= somewhat safe (people might smell it .. they might not...)

So yeah it will be fun and you will probably get some bud out of it.. its just not worth it...

you can make much better product, only spending money once, and have security handled in a much better way.

Lookin forward to seein what you do come up with in that dorm though.. pics would be nice.. like I said before... its not that its a horrible idea... its just not the best place to grow... :bigjoint:

Ok, lots to respond to here, let me take my time and adress each in turn.

Mattithius, thanks for the advice as well as the overall attitude. I have given this a lot of thought over the summer as i have allready said and believe i am safe in this dorm, safe from detection and my room mate is also cool and smart, he won`t tell. There is also NO CAMPUS. It is only a dorm which is basically a student hotel/ For refference (untill i take some pics of my own) http://www.uaic.ro/uaic/bin/download/Resources/Campusuri/akademos.png <- inside http://www.adevarul.ro/editor_files/Untitled-108(6).jpg <- ouside. People don`t tal to each other here because they are too snobbish and upstuck. Combine that with our discretion and we are (i consider) SAFE.
Also, upon further research on this forum, i have found an inexpensive way to make a DIY carbon filter, so that should take care of the smell problem. The maids cone once a week and they only enter if the occupants are inside. We can handle them.
So again, to all, this IS going to happen, it has been thought through and it WILL go down. Please, i appreciate the concern, i really do, but instead of trying to talk me out of it (rudely at times) help me make it stealthy, that`s the best help you can give.

Thank you to everyone else posting here, even you rude ones. Unmannered as you may be you do hae good points and it`s good to be reminded of the harshness of reality if i mess up.

Moving on...

I can`t upload any pics right now but i will get a hold of a camera and cable soon and upload pics. My plan is moving on and getting better. I have found CFLs, 120mm fans and the next thing i need is a carbon filter, that is my next priority.

Question: Say i do this proper and my plant will have ideal or near to ideal growing conditions, what yield can i expect from one plant? Namely one Bubblelicious plant. I mean, the site (Nirvana-shop) says "Yield 400 - 500" but people here have been talking about 2 ounces yield so i`m a tad confused, could someone clear things up for me?

Aight! We get it. Ur gonna do it anyway. I will jus say, get a real carbon filter. The DIY might work, but u dont want to find out it doesnt the hard way. Also, if ur gonna tame or supercrop u can get a couple per plant. It all depends on size of ur grow box. Check out my boy Blazermons stealth grow. He has Papaya grow 12/12 from seed. You're already starting this the wrong way. You've already posted online where you live and what school you go to. What if a dean or anyone employed by the school happens to find this thread on a google search now that you've linked to their site? I'm not sure of the laws in Romania, but if they're anything like here in the US you need to be VERY careful.....

he said thats not his school it just looks like it. the diy carbon filters work, if your shit is airtight-ish, won't work at all in an open room situation. so build into wardrobe, dresser, cabinet whatever. vent into a separate drawer or behind or something. carbon filter is also usually not necessary until flower either.

For some unknown reason, i can`t edit my posts :/ i`d have liked to remove those links because they were actually a bad idea... but i can`t ><

Anyway, i`ve gone out yesterday and found about everything i need, all in different locations. I made it so i wouldn`t be buying more than 2-3 things from one place.

Here is my list. I don`t believe i`ve forgotten anything, but if i have, feel free to give me a shout:

  • 3 25watt CFL bulbs 6500k
  • 2 120mm pc fans
  • thermometer
  • 1 20m alluminum foil
  • air purifier replacement filter (like so http://www.domo.ro/Electrocasnice/Home_Comfort/Purificatoare_aer/Westwood/Filtru_pentru_purificator_aer_Westwood_KF-P23A-F) i will explain about that a bit later
  • duct tape (i have not found this yet, but it`s no problem)
  • roll of alluminum screen (also have not found this but i think i`ll be good with it as well)
  • 1 roll of clear, double sticky plastic foil (or w/e that called xD i think you know what i mean)
  • 10-12 liter flower pot
  • universal soil, ph of ~6, good for all but the most acidofil plants (the package says)
that`s what i`m gonna be working with, now to take a few items on their own.

The carbon filter.
I`ve used this thread https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/7074-easy-build-diy-carbon-filter.html to go on for building my own filter. The thing is i can`t find that kind of wrap-around carbon filter the guy uses, only the one i showed you guys. So the way i`m thinking is i put that square filter right behind or in front of the fan that will take out the stinky stinky from the closet. That way it will still get filtered, hopefully well *fingers crossed*

The lighting.
I will be using 3 65k 25watt CFLs, as i`ve said, mounted into sockets. I`ll attatch extension cords to each socket and plug them in, since i can`t connect them to the power grid directly. I`ll also have to place the in a way so they don`t touch the tin foil or the closet`s walls w\o too many modifications to the said closet, since people will be using it next year as well :)

I will be uploading pics today as well, just as soon as my roomie wakes up and i can turn on the lights.

Also, i estimate my seeds will be here by next Wednesday at the latest. Nirvana says they`re still waiting for payment on my order :confused: I payed with cash last monday, the post office said the package should get to the recipient in 5-7 days... i hope i don`t have to wait for much longer T__T

Also, thanks Fditty for that refference and everyone else who keeps posting, you guys have been immense help so far, have helped to get my act together and do it right, thanks a lot and hope to see you around still :)

whats crazier here as someone else mentioned you have stated where you are pretty much. YOu could have just done a bit of reading on this site and not had to ask any of the questions you have asked. Good luck and if you want more info just search for stealth grow and there are full threads you can just read with questions and answers. there arent but so many questions, this site is an excellent resource, again good luck

i would go with white paint rather than aluminum foil if your using that for reflectivity. foil is not good to use

i would but i don`t have the liberty of painting the dresser nor do i have the money for foil :-?

  • what light cycles should i use/ are they absolutely necesary? With autoflowering plants- 18/6 with normal plants 18/6 and 12/12
  • I understand a soil ph of about 6 is necesary, but what should i ask for at the store? A clay, dark soil, what kind? Get good soil if you can ( pro mix, FF ocean forest. Get some PH up and down on line or at a local hydro store. (I'm willing to be you can find one if you're in a college town)
  • how often should i water? Normally about every 2 days, but stick your finger about an inch or so in to the soil. If it's dry, water, if not, don't water.
  • Can i just use non-bubbling mineral water/ can i use it in all stages of growing w\o sacrificing quality? Tap water should be fine, just check the PH (this is where te up and down come in)
  • can i make do with ordinary light bulbs? If not what cheap alternatives do i have? CFL light bulbs (2700k and 6500k mixed) of various sizes. NOTE : Try to have at least 4000 lumens a sq ft.
  • Other than filtering the smell, do carbon filters have other use? Not really, the filter you want scrubs air.
  • What should i do about ventilation? how do i set that up because this is maybe my biggest problem. I have no skills in this matter (setting up electronics, wiring, voltage etc.) You need intake and exaust fans. The exaust fan needs to have a higher cfm rating than the intake fan. You want to have your area completely sealed because you want to create a vacume in the area. No leaks, or as few as possible. Most of your fans will come with a plug, but if you have to hard wire, black is hot, white is neutral, and copper or green is a ground. (Do this right. YOu don't want to burn down the dorm)
All this being said, I don't think it's a good idea for you to grow in a dorm. At least wait until you're not a freshman and get a house with your buddy, and try it there if you're itching to try it.

The cleaning ladies wouldnt think a thing! It says $749w/out co2 option but in the newest high times. They offer a $500 off instant rebate. It says $199 in the mag. Tell ur parents u have some extra books u need!!

I'm confused if you are using foil or not. You had it in the parts list, but then said you didn't have $$ for it? If you *are* using foil, use the less shiny side... it's actually about 15% more reflective...but as mentioned, good ol' flat white paint is better.

Also, I think you will be able to edit your posts after you have more of them. I wasn't able to edit my posts when I first joined either.

No no, sorry for the confusion, i don`t have the cash for paint, or the liberty of painting the dresser, that`s what i was saying. I`m using alluminum foil after all. And thanks for that tip btw, good advice that

I`m just waiting on my seeds now which seem to not want to come my way at all :( my roomie thinks nirvana screwed us, but i`m still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. It`s been a week since i sent them cash (i sent it last monday) and my order is still "waiting for payment". It`s starting to bring us both down, i hope i get to see my seeds and not get ripped off :|

nirvana is a company that has been around a while, i have also personally received seeds from them like three or four years ago. they can't be ripping people off and still getting business so i'm sure they'll come through. you ought to try the white trash bags they are better than tinfoil.

Emergency blankets are only 1 MM thick and have lots of tiny holes. They do a much better job of reflecting heat than they do light. Also, because it's so thin, it will be really hard to get it to lay flat (creating hot spots).

It will work, but I still think flat white is better (overall) than using an emergency blanket.
