Growing according to the phases of the moon

I was wondering with all the green thumbs around here if anyone else grows by the phases of the moon. Confused? I'll explain...

When I was a child, my grandfather passed this bit of gardening knowledge on to me. Now that I have been doing this for a number of years and have begun to understand what an important tool it is. I would like to pass it on to as many people as are willing to learn about it. By all accounts, this has been practiced since the dawn of agriculture, and has only fallen out of use in the past century or so. Since the advent of the tractor and modern chemical ferts, really.

In gardening, the different phases of the moon in conjunction with which astrological sign is it in, govern different aspects of plant life and growth. It takes years of study to learn which phase does what and when, and there is an abundance of information both in books and on the web, so you should have no trouble finding information on this subject. But luckily there are charts that tell you what you need to know without hours of reading. So, here are a couple of my favorites.

This subject is far too extensive to to into detail about it here. But those of you who are interested enough will learn a great deal from this.

Happy Growing

Great links man. It seems very hocus pokus-y, I guess because of astrology seems to be found with palm readers and stuff. If my grandfather hadn't used it, I would say it's crazy. My grandmother on the other side of the tree would actually plan "open house" party's for their store by using the farmer's almanac. She was in charge of them for a good 15-20 years and she said only one time it rained on their party.

yeah, i pay attention to the cycles of the moon. the gravitational forces of nature can play a key role in getting the most out of your plants. On a side note, i believe the power of meditation and loving your plants are just as important to. giving them love through meditation works. call me crazy, but i believe that to be true.;-)Yes it will grow no matter what, but love helps

I've read about this in a couple different places, apparently the guys at Barney's Farm (according to HT) and Soma use the lunar calendar but I couldn't find a good copy of it. Thanks for the links man.

I've heard this quite a few times over the years,
and there might be something to it, worth a try I say.
