Growing in a Cold Country

hi all,
based in a cold country here and about to attempt a grow,
I got a secret jardin dr60 2.5

my question is about heating and maintaining temp.

whats the best and cheapest heat source for a tent of that size? and a good reliable temp monitor that shuts off if its getting too hot etc..
My lights are LED so dont give off much heat..

You dont want heat. Indoor rooms/tents don't need heat. The led will provide enough heat in a tent if its really cold. People are always trying to get heat out leds and hids produce alot of heat.

19 degrees! oh my god! maybe space heaters, combined with HID's, if need be just get as many hid's as you can, that will REALLY warm them plants up. I wish i had a cold problem rather than a heat problem, there a lot easier to fix especially if indoors lol.

a 5x5 tent with a 1000 watt mh will only be about 10 * hotter than the ambient temp of the area its in

My room temp is 72*F my veg tent is 82*F with a 6 inch 440 cfm exhaust fan moving the hot air out

A 600 watt mh in the same tent is 7-8 degrees hotter

Slap a 400 watt mh in your tent... a 200 cfm exhaust along with a speedster and your set

or space heaters you want your temps in the 70s atleast

Growing in a cold country is a blessing! The only heat you really need is from your lights and if you need more...add more lights... You could get passive air regulation going on and save energy on fans and cooling. If its really cold in your grow op add a couple cfls, provide good lumens and a lot of heat but not too much.

great!, my thermostat is actually working again so im gonna see want heat i can get today.

can you explain passive air regulation?

Instead of using intake and outake fans like many grow ops for cooling you could go passive. You can simply have holes in your box. The intake hole being half the size of the exhaust fan. That way due to natural laws of physics the air will circulate naturally. You can light trap the intake/outake and call it a day.

19 degrees celsius
66.2 degrees fahrenheit
this temp should be fine, but I would still add lights until i hit the right temp rather than any heater. I would suggest a 400 watt digital ballast so your can use MH for veg and HPS for flower. you could add a fan if you need to and keep the LED's to balance the spectrum better. you should get killer results this way.

19 degrees C is near perfect. Under about 16 and they start to grow slowly.

REALLY????

the last time i attempted a grow i was under the assumption that i needed to keep the heat around 28 / 29 degrees C.

can someone please confirm this great news?

this is everyones dream problem! just add more light. if u can get it to around 24c u will see alot faster growth u will need a heater for when lights are off too dont want it dropping below 19/20c when lights are out
