Growing in a cooler season advice.

Hi all, I'm just wondering how does the growing process work if you're looking at growing in more mild season, would get plenty of sun light, but with a lot of inconsistent weather in between.

- would the grow take longer?
- would the quality of the plant be poor?
- would the end harvest result in poorer quality bud?
- would there be a lower harvest yield?

And any other advice and info that you think is relevant would be greatly appreciate.

Specifics will depend on where your growing, quality of plants depend on how you are growing, no, depending on how much you study depends on how much you’ll harvest, read guides, plan ahead, invest in defense (like fences and gopher wire, not chemical sprays!) best of luck to yah!
 
A lot of variables there.

If weather (rainy cooler) is a problem and you have the ability, you could build a hoop house over your plants that has the plastic anchored one one side and can be attached when needed at the other side or pulled aside for good weather days.

In general if we are talking about limited light say less than 12-15 hours, cloudy, rainy weather with temps 70 F or less then IMO plant and yield bud quality will suffer. Hoop house could improve on that though.
 
Excellent thanks for the information guys, I know how hoop house is a similar concept to a green house, what are your thoughts on the use of a green house while the plant is fairly young?

You want to do a Aussie winter grow? (I'm guessing)

I saw an old grow video on youtube, this old guy was doing the same thing....it seemed to work well for him...

A greenhouse would be a good idea...
 
That's correct @SenorBrownWater it's currently autumn and quite decent weather, and the part of Australia that I'm from usually stays pretty warm all year round, even in most winters, 4 seasons in one day gets used a lot haha.
I'm certainly going to invest in a greenhouse. Thanks for your advice, how much less of a yield would there be roughly if you had to guess? Say a normal yield was 10/10

I'm 45th parellel N. My seedlings are in a greenhouse now..started last month and will be planted outdoors in May.If you have access to one.. Greenhouses are excellent for protecting young plants.

If you don't..Hoop houses are not as effective as a greenhouse BUT... are an inexpensive second choice that work.

I would go with 7/10 as my guess ...

Get a fast flowering strain....

im certainly going to invest in a greenhouse, I've got my own version of a hoop house atm the protect my seedling(s) that I built as a result to losing my first seedlings to birds (heartbreaking) in turn that set me back a few weeks resulting in my current situation.

It'll be my first time growing so I can totally live with that at this point in time, I wish it were easy to get my hands on a faster growing strain but it's close to impossible down here, I only got these seeds by pure luck.
 
If you don't have seeds or clones yet check with OregonGreenSeed They are bred to grow in a cooler damp climate, mold resistant and are early finishers.

My first year growing I harvested about a pound per plant. If I could get 10-12 oz growing off season in a greenhouse..I'd be all over that.

I'd say if you didn't encounter major problems..That's very attainable.

OGS will ship, they only breed faster finishing strains..Their customer service is excellent and they are very trustworthy!!

I don't know your laws down there, so not sure how comfortable you are recieving shipments of seeds, they are very discreetly shipped.

I'm still looking into the possibility of shipping in seeds, I feel like it's a huge gamble at this point in time and need to do more research into our customs. I've read if seeds are cleaned correctly that sniffer dogs can't detect them?
 
It is a gamble for anyone..My first "legal" grow in Oregon I order from Attitude. (Holland via England).Feds could have confiscated them if they found them..
Dogs can't sniff every package.

OGS ships discreetly and the prices are very fair. However..if you can somehow source them there in Aussieland that's the easiest way.

Yeah for sure! Unfortunately the seeds I've got atm aren't really the best, they can be used but only a small few of them would be likely to grow at all. I've heard good reviews all round about Attitude and I looked into OGS they don't ship to here unfortunately (n)

I'm slowly making good connections throughout the community, so sourcing some in my first priority it's tough though haha Australia can be a real pain sometimes!!
