Growing in coco question

How much did the Blumats cost you ? I would love to grow in all coco but unfortunately I don't have the time for watering. If I can get that figured out I would never again deal with soil.
I just got the 5 carrot starter kit. They have them on Amazon for $55. It comes with tubing and the bulkhead fitting for whatever you use as a reservoir. I did buy some extra 3mm drip line. The 8mm tubing that comes with the kit is quite rigid and a longer 3mm drip line from the 8mm makes it easier to move things around.

Yeah I’ve let a couple dry out and it just seemed to burn the tips a little.

how many carrots would you put in a 3gal cloth pot of coir? I’ve been eyeing that same starter kit.

Blumats, gravity fed and a ceramic "Carrot" that uses capillary action based on moisture to open and close a valve to a drip line which delivers water slowly. The coco stays constantly moist but not soaking wet. You use a lower nutrient solution EC than typical as it's a constant feed system.

I don't have any recent pictures as I've been doing other types of growing these days but I'm doing another run the same way here real shortly. These are from a couple years ago. I've posted them before in other threads.

Blumats, fabric pots, and coco setup.

Reservoir filled as needed.

Hi,
I’m looking to set up drip irrigation system like what you have in the photo. May I ask how many drip points did you set up for one plant? also during its waketime, for how long should I open the water valve or do I need to stop watering prior to sleeptime?

One will work, but some people use multiple as a fail safe. You can attach them to a special soaker hose as well.

Blumats are self regulating. They open themselves when they sense the medium is too dry, and shut themselves off when they sense it has returned to moisture level that you set them to. It's based on a pressure differential of the carrot and the medium.
