Growing In Louisiana

Hi I grew last year with great results but now i plan to start growing again to see if i can get better results. The only thing is I almost got caught growing and had to start flowering early, so now I want to see if anyone knew how to build an outdoor grow box that will still let in natural sunlight but be discreet at the same time. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I love if anyone could tell me the best time to plant again because the weather has been fucked up meaning it is freezing one day and hot as fuck the next. Thanks to all who respond.

Not sure bout outdoor box. Id get a nice mold resistant strain, I know how bad that humidity is. I had a buddy, who used to grow inside a old car. He tore the seats out, so he could have more height, no tint. It was visable at eye level. But not from the sky

It doesn't really make sense, but most jurisdictions treat cultivation far more harshly than simple possession.

I wouldn't hold my breath for legal cannabis in LA any time soon; its still a pretty conservative state.

To answer the original question. . .

Some people do well growing outdoors in shacks or greenhouses with translucent/frosted plastic roofs that still let in enough light to grow, but make it impossible to see what's actually inside. This works fine in super-sunny climates (eg like LA).

There is more than one way to skin this "cat"; its basically a question of matching your stealth outdoor grow room/box to the surroundings so it doesn't stick out. Think: Greenhouse, outhouse, doghouse(!), tool shed, etc.

In general, growing outdoors with lots of other people around is pretty risky. Even if you can't directly see the growing plants, most strains tend to get pretty stinky in full flower outdoors, and that can be a bad giveaway. You also have to be discreet about how often you visit your grow and when.

On planting. . .plant NOW. . .INDOORS. . .under a small CFL light. By the time the small plant is ready to be transplanted outdoors, it will be warm enough to do so.

Not true at all we are close to the equator in Louisiana, therefore should be running the equatorial sativas if I am not mistaken. They may take longer to finish flowering but the yield will be massive and you shouldn't find too many problems with humidity, even though we hate it I do believe to a certain extent that plants need some humidity, especially when it is hotter than he devils ball sack here in the summer. Hope this helps with your dilemma..
Grow tall and grow funky! But never brick packed junk. We grow proud flowers that deserve to be shown off!!

Close to the equator compared to where? Canada? Greenland? Yeah ok, with those comparison's I would say Louisianna is "close to the equator". In reality, Louisianna is nowhere close to the equator.

My climate is pretty much the same as la
I think mandalas strains will do well outside
Like that idea of a doghouse greenhouse! U can even hook up a carbon filter no see no smell
Got me thinkin. I already ripped the roof off a outdoor closet off my shop(looks like outhouse)
Prolly wont even need a roof.. N think it will hold heat in too much

I planned on starting something in St. Francisville but my buddies were to nervous. From what I read, I think they start flowering mid August.

Turns out i was more off than i thought. Please understand I am not saying we live on the equator, just simply that we are close and that a more heat resistant strain would work better than just the average seed from the tude, there must be some research done to fine tune and choose the plants that will most suit your grow and what you aim to accomplish. Sorry if this was misleading I do grow more equatorial strains outdoors and they are doing magnificent but hey it could be a fluke

mid August is going to be an issue for me. my plant is 5ft outdoors. if I've got 2 1/2 mos left it'll be taller than me. what can be done about the bugs though?

I'm in Louisiana, and last year my crop was done around mid-October. the climate here is great for growing outdoors, you just have to tend to it more. with temperatures in the 110's this summer my crop isn't growing like last year. i harvested 5 plants, they were all over 6 ft tall. remember when you are drying here, you really should do it inside. i made a mistake last year and dried some in my outdoor shed. had a few really hot days and ended up cooking some of my harvest.

i'm looking at an indoor grow system using an old fridge and leds...

they start preflowering in early august. I say that because I was only 200 miles west of louisiana not too long ago. advice.. its moist as fuck. you need some lady bugs to kill mites, probably some organic fungicide as well. its your biz and all playa but if you almost got caught up titling the thread " growing in louisiana" wasnt the best idea. Know someone near you whos been at it for 25 years because he doesnt go talking . security is your number 1 priority in a illegal state or country. and just because POSESSION is on the talk on decriminalization.... growing/manufacturing is still taken pretty seriously. and comin from the south ,well ,w theyve said alot. well believe it when it is medical or decriminalized right? stay safe , but yeah that should help. also if ur doing out doors, maybe to take less stress off you with nutes try some super soil, may be hard to find TGA SS to buy in louisiana ( theres only one place back in texas) but you can sure make your own without a lot of trouble or $$$ blown. BTW PROPS FOR NOT DOING HYDRO. got some bud from some fuckers in lake charles a few months ago and was hydro , packed to shit with nutes still like they didnt even flush. PM me if ya got questions
