Growing Methods

Hello all, I am a first time grower and I am seeking input from your experiences. Heres the basic situation. I am buying some kind of growing box that is about 1.5 feet long 1.5 feet wide and 4 feet tall. It needs to be quite stealth so I am looking for the most efficient way to grow in this small space. I am going to be using CFLs because Im a cheapass for my first grow. I have been reading constantly for the last few weeks but haven't found exactly what I need. I am open to any kind of grow setup you have seen but right now I am planning on doing soil. I want to experiment with hydroponics if its possible in such a small setup but let me know what you think! I am continuing to read about what kind of setup to make and I do use the search feature. Thanks for your input!

I am just a dirt grower, if no-one comes back at you w/ an answer in next hr. I'll post all I can to help ya' with dirt grows, but even i know a hydro is the way to go. but you didn;t mention a water supply. with a stealth cabinet, a hose running into it may create some concern! so, I'll give the 'dro' people a chance to get in here

Thanks faralos. If its possible, I might be able to get a hose coming through the back somehow. What Im thinking now is buying a used minifridge as a grow box. Im really open to anything and Im going to make something work

you could get 2-4plants inside a minifridge with 3 cfls, 2 fans, intake and exhaust, there are a few such setups in the growroom area on this site one is in a kitchen cupboard! look around there for ideas, too.

read that first, you can scan thru and read just what you need for now. get a box first, then we'll help you with lights, soil or soil-less, etc...

i'm also growing in soil, but you might want to check out "Hempy Buckets"

...i've read some pretty cool stuff about that method. It's not as high tech as even a simply hydro system, but is said to produce a faster grow then soil (just like hydro).

...the reason i'm not using Hempy Buckets myself right now, is that knew that I would be away for a week during the middle of the grow and read that a soil grow can tolerate being ignored a little better than Hempy Buckets.

...also if you are going to use hydro or hempy buckets then you'll need to regularly test Ph and PPM of your water in order to know when to feed.

hope this helps..

peace,
