Growing plants outdoors in 2 Liter pop bottles?

Would I be safe to grow plants outdoors in this? I'm growing about 20 and I'm somewhat on a budget and growing pots at my store are about $2 a piece and I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money. Regardless could I grow the plants in a 2 ltr pop bottle? Also people say I would have to use tape and tape ALL AROUND the pop bottle because it's clear and if UV Rays hit the roots (Keep in mind the bottle is clear) and that apparently it could harm them?

Main two questions :

Grow in pop bottles, yay or nay?
Do I need to tape the bottles so you can no longer see them?

def to small them plants are going to be huge outdoors and if you plant in them bottles you will choke the life out of them well b4 its time to harvest, you want 1 gallon for every foot of plant (average) why carnt you plant straight into the ground?

go to a nursery, and ask for some used flower pots. I got 3 gallon pots for 30 cents each at one, and 7 gallon pots for $1.50 at another. you could also try a painter/sheetrocker they use alot of 5 gallon buckets

i would take 2 healthy plants in 5 gal buckets over 20 in 2 liter bottles. Would stomp the yield on them also.

bad idea for anything over a foot tall. Light can not hit the root mass. Read, there is a lot of info here.

Alright, you answered my question, next question. Can I just put the plants straight into the ground? Is that alright like once they are big?

start them in 2 liter bottles until they are about a foot tall than sure pop them into the ground. Now your on the right track.

yes that fine to plant straight into ground but i would add abit perlite and make sure i broke the soil up so its not solid lumps of earth.

Yeah, I used to do ONLY indoor grows however I had the opportunity to do an outdoor grow of 20 plants so I took the opportunity I just wanted to clear a few things up.

ya 5 gallon buckets are the way to go for outdoor grows. Paint them flat black, and when you plant off set your plant to the opposite side of the handle. This way you can use the handle to carry your plants through the woods.
