Soak about 20 sheets of newspaper cut into squares small enough to fit inside a dinner plate. Put the seeds in the center of the newspaper on the plate, so that they're not touching each other. Cover them with the other 10 sheets of paper, and cover them with another dinner plate turned upside down. Then put them somewhere that stays warm 24/7.(I use the top of my hot water tank) You should get the first sprouts in less than 48 hours, and the rest of them within 4-5 days. If you get some that don't sprout in 10 days, throw those ones away. :)

Also, make sure the newspaper isn't sopping wet, or they won't germinate well. I always grap 3-4 papertowels and suck up some of the water from the top of the newspaper(and any on the plate) before I cover them with the 2nd plate. Then, don't add anymore water again. That first soaking is enough for the entire process.(that's why you use so much newspaper)

One more thing, this probably isn't necessary, but I place the seeds between a paper towel, instead of directly touching the newspaper. I do that because i read that certain inks can be harmful, but never had a problem when i used a paper towel in the center.

See edit.

Nah, I never once had a problem with the ink. And usually, I get 90% of them germinated within 3 days, and have 1" tall plants by days 6. The temp is the key. Keep 'em warm and damp,(moist, not dripping with water)) and you'll have good results. Best of luck to ya. :)

I can't believe I forgot to tell you to soak the seeds overnight first. It would also be a good idea to keep them warm when you do that, too.

If you're worried about the newspaper, use a bunch of papertowels or computer paper. The heat and the moisture are the critical parts, and no so much what type of paper you use. Keep them dark too. That's why i put another plate on top(plus it keeps the moisture from evaporating).

Sorry to hear that man. Even if you were doing it illegally, I think you have every right to do whatever you need to do to help you feel better. Best wishes. :)
