Typically NOT a good idea. If one of the plants turns out to be a male, you can damage the roots of the other plant when you pull it out. Pots are not very expensive.

every single guide or movie or advise i have read/watched/listened to says to seperate them.

multiple plants in one pot could cause problems as far as roots tangling when you want to transplant or one could be sick and you need to give it nutes but the others would then be in danger from the added nutes they didn't need?

probably.

just seperate them.

depending on how its done, it isnt always that bad of an idea... for example, if you used feminized seeds or clones, and had a large enough pot, you could very easily grow 3 healthy plants in one pot... keep in mind you probably wouldnt be able to grow 3 8ft monsters in one pot, but you could have them moderately sized...

just throwing a bunch of random seeds in a pot, or planting more than one seed per hole is asking for headaches and trouble though.
