Alien OG pic taken last night as the sun was going down. Her branches are so tough, she just about doesn't need any support. If this plant were a person it would be a competitive weight lifter. It's not easy to spread her out because she fights back.

How big/wide is your SCROG screen?
Two issues I see that you will have is; 1) reaching to the middle and the side against the fence of the SCROG screen to tuck those branches under, and 2) getting under the SCROG screen to maintenance your plants. How far off the ground is the SCROG screen? That SCROG is going to fill in fast this next month, be ready. I'll be checking in more often now that I see another outdoor SCROG going up.

Thanks. This is my 4 or 5 year doing the outdoor scrog, but its only my second year using one big screen over several plants like this.

It's definitely tight trying to get
to the middle. I left enough room to get around on the other side by the fence, but I just have to crawl to reach the middle. Grabber sticks help with getting to branches in the middle where I can't reach very well. Or I'll just poke them back through with a broom handle, lol.

I wonder how popular outdoor scrogs are, or will be. Oregon just went legal yesterday (WOOOO HOOOO!!!!), but just like the existing medical laws, our recreational plants can not be in public view. Since most cities have a 6' fence height limit, that means that the plants need to stay contained vertically. That's why I started mine.

Scrogs leave a lot of access, I would say especially when compared with vertically wrapping the plant in fencing as a method of support. Scrogs spread and widen the plant, so they trap less moisture (important during late season in the NW). They also support the branches as they grow through so I'm thinking I won't need to stake or tie them up additionally. One of mine now has two layers of screen about 2' apart, a 'double scrog' I suppose. I'm not sure yet if it will create challenges when it comes time to harvest, I'll learn those lessons when I get there.

The big one will require a long "snake stick" -- a stick with a "Y" at the end -- so that I can push the branches in the direction I want them to grow. It is not as effective as if I could access the whole plant directly by hand, and there will probably be some loss or inhibiting of buds as parts of the plant will get caught on the screen while trying to grow through, and I won't be able to reach in and help them. But, nothing is perfect, and I'm betting that this method will increase productivity enough that the small amount of loss it incurs won't outweigh the benefits.

Are u allowed to use a carport/greenhouse at all ?
Man im so jealous of you guys where i am its a court appearance with more than one plant

The details of the law are apparently still being worked on. I believe the wording at this point is that it can't be seen growing from public spaces. So yes, if you use a greenhouse with translucent but not transparent plastic, that should be sufficient. That's my understanding, anyway.

Maybe I just didn't look hard enough but I hardly saw anyone doing scrog outdoors maybe 5 years ago but the idea is gaining popularity fast. It has so many advantages. I like the idea of two layers. My first screen is a little over 4 feet off the ground and 8 feet wide, but I may add another strip to make it 12 feet wide over the golden gun. She's already all the way to the edge of one side of the screen.

This pic shows how the screen spans from the GoldenGun on the right to the Alien on the left. It also continues to cover the Original Sour Diesel, and the 818 and Deadhead that don't show here. Soon I'll add another strip of the fencing to cover the Holy Grail in the bottom left corner. image.jpg

I sure hope so. One end of the Garden was feeling pretty empty after chopping a few males, and the biggest girls all ended up bunched together. You never know which ones will really take off until they are in the dirt. The Golde Gun is crowding out the plants behind it so they will all be one big mass come harvest time. This pic shows where the GG ends and the smaller plants start. How is your summer going?

It took me a minute to place that... did you actually just reference The Brady Bunch? LOL

You probably know this already, but just in case you (or anyone else out there) doesn't... At some point you might need to cut a bigger opening in the wire fence to get your hand through. I humbly suggest that when you cut the wires, leave about an inch extra so that you can fold it backward, creating a nice soft edge. That's what I'll be doing next time. I cut mine flush to try and create the biggest opening possible, and while doing a heavy trim on my Chemdawg I scraped up my arms on the sharp little cut points. My arms look like I lost a fight with a cat. I actually didn't feel it much at the time, I was pretty focused on balancing in awkward contorted yoga-like postures while trying to carefully trim just the ones I wanted to reach. Big plants in small spaces.

Ha! It sounds like you know my struggles all too well. You know, I've just been pushing the cage in at the bottom when I need to reach in, just manhandling the bitches, lmao. I think it was TreeMan who suggested wrapping old cut open hoses around the edge of the sharp points. Looks like a great idea. Next time the dog chews up the hose I will try it myself.

LOL I used to watch Brady Bunch reruns when I was a kid, then they brought it back in those snickers commercials. I'm lame and not ashamed hahaha.

How tall are these in the 100G pots now? How many times have you topped them?

This being my first outdoor, I find I'm making some of the same mistakes I made with my first indoor. Those are 100 gallon pots, and the structure is 5' x 10'. Next time, I won't stick two more plants in the middle, I was totally underestimating how big they'd get. I overcrowded my first indoor too.

But its all good, sort of forming a continuous canopy.

They were topped once at about 2 or 3 weeks after receiving the rooted clones, once again maybe 3 or 4 weeks later to establish the overall shape, and then one more time maybe 4 weeks after that, just to cut back any rogue tall stems and keep the canopy even. So three times. (those times are approximate and from memory)

It is currently 14 weeks since I purchased the clones from a dispensary, and 7.5 weeks since two were put in the 100 gallon pots. I have two others that were put in the ground after having them for only 4 weeks. (those dates I had written down)

Currently they are about 45 inches tall.
