Growing without a hydro shop

I've been lurking a few weeks on Rollitup forums, trying to soak up as much information as possible.

I'm trying to understand exactly what needs to go into a small grow. When I say small grow I mean one plant, that will get no taller than 4 feet and only take 3-4 feet square.

I have handy a bunch of wood that could be used to make a box ( and the hardware needed), Paint, flat activated charcoal filters, and a few bags of Gonzo Odor Eliminator. Amazingly all these things besides the Gonzo were in the house when I moved in.

I don't want to stroll into the neighborhood hydro store, as I have heard you can get profiled by cops there. I really have everything I need, besides the seeds and lights to grow with. I know I need to go metal halide then high pressure sodium.. but I want to be able to move the lights up and down when needed and be able to use the same sockets if possible.

Are the reptile sunning bulbs good for a light source? Are there any normal stores I can get the things I need for a non-flourescent grow?

Go to the grow store lots of people who dont grow cannabis go to them. Alot of people grow hydroponics for food, chefs love to fruits and vegetables from hydroponic growers... If you are this paranoid I wouldnt even grow.

Well expense is another reason I don't want to go to a hydro store too. It can't be the only place to pick up adjustable lamp kits. Or the only place to assemble one.

CL is awesome.

DIY high bay light are worth looking into since you want a small grow.

but for some of the essentials you will have to go to the hydro store. just go, drive a friends car if possible, use cash, look behind you ect. use common sense, i use my own car but i do drive a crazy way home..... you will need to buy a 4" inline fan and a small filter for your setup and there is no way to get around thar, you could DIY it but ive found the cost isnt too much of a difference, but the advantages to a nice fan and filter are much greater.

plus, the pigs dont have the manpower to watch all the hydro stores and follow everyone home. that would take like 5 cops.

just go to the hydro store you sketch ball pull in circle the parking lot look for someone sitting in their car if so does it look like they could be a cop if so drive the other direction like you were going the wrong way drive back by in 20-30 min to see if the cars still there if you still sketched pop a xanax and go back or go out of state they won't follow you over state lines

I actually went to a hydro shop today... my friend says if im only using 50 and 100 watt bulbs i wont need a ballast. So I dont need a hydro shop. And I can get filters elsewhere.. really everything there was rediculously priced... I don't need a 400-600 watt bulb for one plant.

...I feel like you guys didn't read my thread. I'm asking about light set up and alternate places to buy. Please stop telling me to go hydro shop.

Go on line, there are plenty of hydro stores there. if you're so paranoid as one said, don't grow.

You either buy online thru eBay or amazon or use Craigslist. I use all 3. Oh and I also use hydro stores :)

Cops had a camera watching a grow store in Florida that recorded license plates. Cops got search warrants for 39 houses, and found 39 grows of various sizes. My personal car will never pull into a hydro shop. In states its not legal to grow in, I wouldn't risk it personally. Sure lots of people have legit reasons for going, but those people also have nothing to worry about if cops were to raid.

Craigslist/Amazon/Ebay.

lol "dont read my thread" how bout you dont post a thread? your a pussy 100w light bulb, who the fuck told you that? what are you trying to get a 1oz every 3 months? i smoke that in 2 weeks. and overpriced? of course they are over priced but once you add the internet stores "shipping" youll be looking at near the same prices. i hope your filter works cuz ive made quite a few DIY filters and i would trust none of them to the way i grow now.

oh well, best of luck with your endeavors , if your that paranoid you shouldn't grow, and if your scared of getting caught you shouldn't grow. and i wouldn't waste my time with anything less than 250watts for flowering, in any form, cfl hid t5 ect. if you expect to have a decent amount of smoke..

Wow I just came back to this thread.

Poly I DID NOT say "don't read my thread" I said, "I don't think you read my thread"

I CLEARLY said I didnt want to grow with supplies from a hydro shop, and yet people say use hydro or quit.

There is nothing wrong with a micro grow OP. Small HPS setups are inefficient but they will do the job. You can use 70 watters from HD/LOWES if you modify them, 26 watt warm white compact fluoros, 48" tube fluoros or LED. DIY LED can give you better efficiency than 600 HPS but on as small of a scale as you like.

You can make your own mini carbon filter with a bathroom fan $13 and coconut carbon from eBay $4/pound.

If you can figure out how to clone in pro mix you will save $ and avoid the need for rooter or cubes. Good luck!

Just go to the store talk to the guy, buy some nutes from him for his trouble but than go home and buy your stuff on amazon. There are 400hps kits for 139.00 that come with adjusters and timers and two bulbs one for grow and one for flower.

Buy stuff like cheap meters and stuff from the hydro guy to show some respect for him talking to you.

stealthhydro.com is where I have ordered from. Probably the nicest and coolest people in the world there with great support when you call. Thought the 3 times I ordered there I ordered multiple things and they were always out of stock of an item. So if you dont mind a few extra days wait I would recommend them.

Stealthhydro.com is a joke. Shitty customer service and worse products. My bubbleponics kit seen the trash can before it ever made it to my room. Big waste of money but live and learn.
