I have a room with the height of 5 Ft
width of 4 Ft and a length of 4 Ft
is that a good length for a grow room?

What type of lights would be recommended for this size of the grow room i have the wood covered in aluminum from the inside
is that a good thing to use to reflect light? the wood came with it
will i exceed paying more than 50$ the month in just energy used from growing plants using the lights you recommend?

It is fine to grow in, just keep them low through training and topping. Keep in mind, you will need fresh air for the plants and probably some type of venting for the lights/carbon filter. Check out HTG for some shopping ideas. Some of their stuff is reasonable and some of their stuff is junk. Take your time when buying your gear and don't rush into any purchases.

Cover the room in poly film and get rid of the aluminum if possible. That's a huge heat conductor. What kind type of light are you wanting? MH, HID, LED? LED IS best for heat and power usage, but can be pricy.

Use Mylar or cut up some sun screens ( cheap ) and line walls. Or paint walls white.
Foil deflects heat with light. You can also use CFL as an option for personal grow.

Hid I think would be the best as long as you keep it air cooled in that space.

If that's out then led I would think is next best, but pricy initially.

Cfl, next, can be done as well, but the yields will be nowhere close to that of an hid light imo. If at all possible I'd go with a hid tho, cfls can produce but nothing close to the nugs you get with hid. I don't have any experience with led but they seem like a step up from cfls... I'd like to get a good one and see how it compares to a hps...

Why not just pull out the aluminum and replace with Mylar? But I wouldn't think you would have a problem if you just covered it up.

I personally haven't used anything other than LED so naturally I recommend that. It all depends on your budget. MH and HID run much hotter so your Cooling/exhaust would have to compensate.

I use a Mars Hydro 600 but start seedlings under CFL .
I also use a 4x4 tent. ( this one cost 40 bucks at amazon )
I distance at least 18" - It gives a large light footprint .
I originally had 4 plants ( this week 2 flower ) but had to " dump the boys "

Hope this helps.
