GSK at 53 days starting to foxtail (flush time?)

This is my seventh grow in 2 years so I'm only "kind of a newbie" but I figure this is a newbie question.

This is the point that I usually have trouble. Figuring out when to chop and how to dry. GSK is supposed to be a 65 to 70 day strain. Now 53 Days Into 12 / 12, one of my plants has 50% Amber at the top of the bud and my other plants are starting to Foxtail.

My question is, should I keep growing or start to flush and get ready to put them into darkness? I have another tent that I can put a plant or 2 into if I should want to continue to grow the rest of them. I prefer milky trichomes over Amber since I don't want it to put me to sleep

GSK is a Girl Scout cookies/green crack Strain from Blim seeds.
9 week veg time from seed (Long veg time due to being topped and broken pH meter issues)
Growing in Coco with Canna nutes twice-daily.
480w COB lighting
70-81°f
humidity 38-55%

I would suggest raising your light for a start. Flushing is a myth believed by ignoramuses and some will be along to defend it. Just raise the light eh? Get air moving.

I would not categorize it as bad foxtailing yet. It is just starting to Foxtail on a couple of plants. My lights are at maximum height of 22" and my large oscillating fan is giving plenty of circulation. My heat gun shows 74 degrees on the buds closest to the lights. Some of the heat damage could have been from a couple weeks ago when my wife left the grow room door closed and it hit 90°.

Looking at the buds, you think they will grow for another 2 weeks? I am having a lot of trouble finding white hairs that are not on the fox tails.

I think no matter what you are doing it's heat stress. Yes they'll keep growing and foxtailing. If you aren't selling it you'll be good. Ir doesn't affect potency. Read the plant and not a thermometer.

The one grow I did not flush worked great but gave me a coughing fit every time I smoked. Are you using cocoa or soil? Hydroponics nutrients or organic? I would not bother flushing soil organics.

Since there's nothing more I can do about the Heat and it's illegal to sell in this state, I guess I'll just leave them alone. I always thought, once they stop throwing white hairs they were done. (Talking about the one with all the Amber not the ones with the fox tails)

Ignoring the foxtailing they don't look done swelling to me.
Trichs are all well and good but things can turn amber early for various reasons.
I prefer to go on the look of the plant, the swell, the recession of hairs and how hard they feel, although the last point will change from one strain or environment to another.

His talking about flushing in general. I'm in coco, using Canna A&B and have flushed & have not. I don't think the difference is in flushing as much as your routine after the chop. Dry slow and leave moisture for the cure! Good luck!

Thanks, I will separate this grow by pheno then. Save the Amber for when I need to sleep.

Must have been something else I did wrong. I have had both problems with the dry. Jarred them up too early and end up with 99% humidity, dump back out and wait another couple days. Jar it back up and it be 58%. Too dry for a good cure. The best cure I have had was 70% when it went in.

I just chopped a foxtailer. It happens. They just keep stacking. This one will end up pressed for rosin. Some plants feel stress where others don't notice.

I wait to feel a crispy outside with some spongy feel underneath. I do trim down to sugar leaves after chop then hang. A good cure will help smooth the smoke.

Flushing of in any medium is stupid. Soil, coco, hydro period.

For my first grow I am going against a lot of people's advice and just tapering down the PPM based on what the plant wants. I have been from 600-500 and now 450 PPMs.
I had one person act offended when I mentioned it (not flushing), and they make some stupid ass comment about how I could enjoy my pot sparking while it's smoked. Heh.
I see it as starving the plant at a critical time.

Your good flushing is bs. You can get smooth smoke an white ash from proper drying and curing methods.

I feed until the last week and then it's water and molasses for the microbes. Not a flush but a regular feed. I've also chopped bud I was still feeding many times - nanners or whatever - and my bud doesn't smoke like fireworks.
