But it's been 90+ most days for at least a month here and I haven't watered any plants since I put them in the ground in May. They aren't in particularly moist areas either.
So as long as you don't have them in pots you shouldn't have to water too awful much. Putting in the effort of digging a large hole early in the season pays off 100x later on in the year in the effort it takes to water. I have a couple container plants too and even the ones who's containers are fully shaded need watered every 3-4 days. 5gal containers.

Forest service Piss Bags!!
I have a friend that has some forest service, 'Piss bag,' vests. He wears one on the front and one on the back. Each one holds six gallons, very easy to carry water over a distance with, and each one has a built in hose. See here:

Myself, I've always dug wells. I grow in swamps when the water level drops in the summer. 5 Gallon buckets.

a digital 7 day timer. Uses a 9v battery , i replaced the battery the last time i was out there. THe Timer is set to come on once every 6 days for 10 mins.
BRAND of timer? they timer I have only works when water is under preasher

If i were you id go with water retaining crystals they absorb water and nutrients and slowly releases it to the soil as it needs it.

Well i scout out areas where water is close enough not to kill me carrying it. When you have large numbers You can't hike it in. I have only watered once this season. Though I do liquid feed every week. So I do need water to mix nutes.
