I've been working on a breeding plan for my regular strains, in relation to what I have to work with.
Here are the strains/genders I have to work with so far:
-2 Querkle Females
-1 Cataract Kush Female
-2 Querkle Males
-2 Cataract Kush Males
-1 Jack The Ripper Male
I still have 1 Jack The Ripper and 1 Cataract Kush that remain unsexed, which could change things...especially if they're both female.

I haven't, and realize I'll get a wide range of characteristics from the resulting seeds. I might not do it too, and just keep Auto Assassin females #3 and #4 as Sensimilla.
Auto Assassin by Short Stuff Seeds is a real Sativa strain.
It's an Auto AK-47 crossed with a special Sativa. Even with the higher CBD and CBN percentages from the ruderalis genetics, Auto Assassin is supposed to exhibit several of the characteristics that I love so much about Sativa's (fragrance/taste, size and fluffiness of buds, the up/clear-headed high,etc).
Crossing Auto Assassin with a 99% Indica like Cataract Kush should be a great strain line to work on for a while.
Crossing Auto Assassin with a mostly Sativa strain like Jack The Ripper will be something special. It might be some of the strongest and fastest finishing Sativa-dominant weed out there.
Again, like any hybrid crossing, there's gonna be a lotta of different characteristics expressed when the resulting seeds are germinated and grown out.
At this point, just preserving and duplicating the best of these genetics is my main goal.

Well after the horrible weather (50mph winds/driving rain) we've had over the last few weeks, the plants have all made it, albeit a bit beat up....but really no worse for wear.
The wind kind of LST'd my Cataract Kush female, Jack The Ripper unsexed, and one of my Querkle females. I stabilized them with some more soil, and they look good to go.
Speaking of Cataract Kush, I found out my last unsexed CK was a male, so I ended it's life then and there. I already have 2 really solid Cataract Kush males at my male plot. They showed their sex before this last CK male I killed, and have all the growth characteristics that I was interested in, so there really was no need to have 3 males floating pollen around (I'm still thinking about only going with 1 male for each strain and killing the rest for this very reason).
I do like the idea of an abundance of genetic variety when I pollinate though, so I might just keep all the males I already have at the male plot.
The Jack The Ripper unsexed plant (at my female site) still hasn't shown any signs of sex yet, and trust you me, I've been looking. At this point, I'm holding out a lotttttta hope that because it's taking so long to show sex, that it might very well be female. Males almost always show a few weeks before females, so using that wishful thinking (haha) maybe I've got a Jack female.
The Jack The Ripper male is just amazing looking (for a male). It's the biggest plant I have growing, with huge fan leaves, pretty decent branching, and overall really healthy looking. I'll be breeding with it somehow....just haven't decided which lucky girl is gonna get it. The Jack's growth and genetics are just too amazing to pass up the opportunity to breed with it, even if my unsexed Jack ends up being a male.
The two Querkle females (besides taking a beating from the weather) still have just amazing branching AND size. They have the height of the Jack Male, yet the branching of the Cataract Kush (which is pretty damn impressive in-and-of-itself).
The two Querkle Males are doing great at the male plot.
I watered every plant (the males less), even though the soil was still pretty moist. Daytime temps have been in the 80s with lots of sun lately, so I know they're gonna be using up that water by the next time I get out there.
I've been really lucky with rain this year so far, although now that I'm getting into flowering, I wouldn't mind hand-watering from this point on if it means I won't have to deal with bud rot.

After a terrible weekend of awful weather, I discovered my last Cataract Kush female had been pummeled to death by lemon-sized hail....
...breaking the stalk at the base almost completely:
The plant was very wilted and beyond repair, so I had to toss it.
On a more positive note, I found out my previously unsexed Jack The Ripper is a female, with many pistils throughout the plant.
This is great news for me, as I can actually breed pure-strain Jack The Ripper with my stud Jack male.
The Querkle females look great, but one is more bushier than the other (and the one I'll likely breed with).
The taller Querkle I'll probably let go unseeded, so I can have some Querkle that is Sinsemilla.
I can't say I'm not disappointed in the Cataract Kush dying so prematurely, but between the two (Jack or Cataract Kush), I'd much rather breed and have the Jack.
8-week Sativas with Jack The Ripper's pedigree (taste/smell/stone) are rare, and Jack is my all-time favorite smoke.

Like I say in the video, I culled back all of the male pollen sacks, so only a few were still on each plant. I want the females to catch up a bit in flowering before I pollinate them, so I had to retard the male plants development.
I did cut some of the nicest pollen parts off of each of the 5 strains I want to breed with, and put them in a plastic bag. They're currently drying out on a hanger, with a piece of white paper beneath them to catch any pollen that might drop down.
What I'm hoping is that at least a few of these pollen pods have some viable pollen that I can dry out, separate, and put in different zip-lock bags.

To be honest, I'm surprised a single plant stood standing after the storm.
Still pisses me off that such a beautiful and promising plant died so needlessly, but those are some of the breaks in guerrilla growing I guess.
It was the worst hail I've personally been witness to.

The Querkles are really flowering now, throwing out pistils in thick bunches. They smell strong too, but with an early flowering-like smell.
I have a feeling that both are Space Queen dominant, based mostly on their similar tall growth pattern. They're both extremely branchy, which is obviously great.
I can see why Subcool gets such beautiful bushes when he early-tops these.
I didn't top any of these because I didn't want them to lag in flowering...especially since in Spring-flowering there are only so many good days that are available to initiate and propagate flowering conditions. Topping would have slowed things down too much, directly affecting the triggering of flowering.
The Jack The Ripper still looks really healthy, although flowering is very sporadic with it. Only a few hairs on a few branches. If I have to, I'll let it go all summer, so it'll finish flowering in the fall. Maybe I'll pollinate the few pistils I see to get some seed, and after they're done producing seeds, maybe it will reveg this summer. That'll be my plan if this Jack doesn't finish by June.

Both Querkle females are really throwing out some pistils, the bud clusters getting thicker and thicker every time I go out there.
The Jack The Ripper female isn't flowering much, just throwing out a few female pistils to let me know its sex. I'll still try to seed this Jack out with my Jack The Ripper male, and see if I can grow a few seeds.
Ideally, I'd like to just harvest any resulting seeds from the Jack female, and leave the plant to continue the normal summer/fall harvest cycle. By the time that any resulting seedpods are done forming, it'll be much closer to the summer solctice (longest day of the year, June 21st I believe)...a better time for vegetative growth.
If this Jack does go all summer and flowers normally this fall, it will be one big ass plant, even for a 5-gallon bucket. I had 8 1/2 foot tall G13/Hazes going last year in 5-gallon buckets, and they only had 2 full months to veg.
This Jack The Ripper was put out on February 26th...which would be at least 5 months of vegetative growth before flowering. That's a pretty exciting possibility.
Excited about the bushieness of one of my Querkle mothers. I didn't even top her, but she just naturally bushed out. I'm praying this is the more Indica/Urkle mother, and not the more Sativa/SpaceQueen. I have a feeling that the taller Querkle mother I have might be a SpaceQueen dom strain. I'll be leaving this taller, not as bushy Querkle mother unseeded for Sinsemilla.

The CK male is a sight: really tight pollen-pod clusters, which is a great characteristic when looking for a decent breeding male.
A male with tight pollen-clusters will likely impart the 'tight-clusters' gene in any resulting seed. So I'm pretty happy with the CK male, and will breed something with it.

Seeded bud is not inferior bud by any means. Only problem with seeded bud is that if you sell pot then people don't want seeded, they want it sensimelia (spelling?) and the yields are slightly lower with seeded bud. I have decided to seed all my bud since i'm the one who will be smoking it for my medicine, being seeded means my favorite smokes have genetics that will be carried on (or at least some traits of it). I hybridize all seeds though for that hybrid vigor, but i'm a newbie at it. Good job man good to see someone else not wasting their genetics.

Hey thanks Tardis...I've read a lotta your posts.
With these kind of genetics, I hope you're right as far as the seeded buds quality. I'm aiming to just pollinate the lower branches, and leave the top colas unpollinated (hopefully).
Ya I'm not sellin' any of this bud, and I agree; it's great to save and propagate superior genetics.
If I can get even a handful of seeds from the one mutant Jack The Ripper female, I'll consider the Jack The Ripper project a success. It's my favorite weed of all time, but it looks like I'll have to wait until late fall to sample it's awesomeness.

1. Yes it is inferior in the sense that resin production for the most part stops when the calyxes become pollinated 2.Sensimilla 3. Seeded bud weighs more not less.

I don't think anyone is arguing whether seeded bud is better or equal to non-seeded bud.
I think that's pretty obvious to most that Sensimilla is better.
I share Tardis' view to a certain respect though; I've had some really fantastic seeded bud.
It's a PITA to pick out seeds, but with my grow this Spring, I want seeds and don't mind.

The Trichomes on Seeded bud is no different than the trichomes on sensimilla and does not lack in potency. If you make hash or grind it up and smoke a bowl you'll get just as high. My tga subcool bud which is seeded now will knock you on your ass. One hitter quitter shiznit. As a result I will seed all future plants

HAHA okay be my guest but that is subjective and not fact. I'm sure you get high off it and that's great to seed plant's to use the seed's but to seed them because you think it increases the essential oil's and resins is just crazy.

I never said seeds make it superior smoke, i just said it doesn't make it inferior. DJ Short said that about the bud not me. The trichomes are the same, like the leaves are the same, and the stem is the same when its seeded. granted you get LESS bud because the energy put into seed production, but the Quality of the smoke is not less due to seeds. I don't think its superior either, i think its what you would have gotten without seeds.
