so true, so sad, so sickening that this can be happening.

when do you scholars think we lost states rights completely. if i had a guess i would say 60's great society. but i suspect it may have been earlier
The thing about states' rights is that it's rarely about principle but about what's expedient. Some are all in favor of states rights, except when that right happens to be gay marriage or medical marijuana.

Personally, I'm happy that the federal government has the final say on things. Slavery and civil rights were also states' rights issue at the time...

Rather than the Federal Government OR the State making individuals decisions for them wouldn't it be better if more things were left up to the individual ?

So we'd be better off if all of us were making our own decision about whether or not to keep black people as slaves...? That might be a shitty example because you're depriving others of their rights, but how about my individual decision to pump tons of dioxin into the mississippi or use cyanide to mine for gold?

What is wrong with this: Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen."

Did it say Mexicans? INo. So what's the problem?
I don't give a rats ass what country they came from- if they are here illegally get them out! Period.
It's also a fed felony to hire undocumented workers. Let's start cuffing and stuffing business owners for hiring illegals.. Hell, we cuff and stuff pot growers in many States!

Talk about 'selective' prosecution! And that's what ticks me off!

They enforce the laws they want and say 'to hell with... this one, and that one'.

And don't give me some tear jerking story about 'pain' for being up rooted. You broke the law now suffer the consiquences.
Also, don't hand me that crap about "they're onlu doing jobs Americans won't do. BS! A job is a job but look at what the 'companies' are paying illegals!! Flippen modern day economic slavery.
Racisum is paying someone less due to their nationality
legal status. Flippen pigs!
Cuff and stuff that freak!

How about we just enoforce Mexican Immigration laws on Mexicans and all other contry of origin laws on the illegals from that country?

But don't hand me some story to try to make me weep. No More Tears is right Ozzy!

I actually think we need to get serious about enforcing the marijuana laws on the books. I mean, all you have to do is look at this site and see that thousands of people are getting away with breaking the law. It's illegal and I want it to stop! Maybe if they had been harsher about enforcing those sodomy laws in the south, we wouldn't have so many gays running around trying to convert our kids. I want them to enforce the damn law, already!

You enjoy missing the point as often as you can. They do enforce pot laws far more than illegal immigration laws. But you needed this explained to you. So sad.

Plus you missed the big picture in my post. You have to have an IQ of 100 or better to see it in color. But you didn't see it at all. So sad.

Yes, please explain...

The DEA has an annual budget of something like $2.5 billion, while that of ICE is about twice that. Just looking at the money alone, it seems there's more effort going toward immigration enforcement. I have no idea where you get the idea that we are more serious about enforcing drug laws than we are about the border...

I got you big picture and I understand that you feel like laws on the books should be enforced. I'm just saying our immigration laws are just as fucked up as our drug laws. I keep saying this but what's wrong with immigration in this country is not that we aren't trying hard enough to keep people out, but that we aren't doing enough to let the right ones in.

I got you big picture and I understand that you feel like laws on the books should be enforced. Well, yea! Look at what happend to Aspen- the Roaring Fork valley. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an illegal. 80% of the students inthe Carbondale scool system are non-english speaking spanish children. 80%!

I'm just saying our immigration laws are just as fucked up as our drug laws. I keep saying this but what's wrong with immigration in this country is not that we aren't trying hard enough to keep people out, but that we aren't doing enough to let the right ones in.

The immigration laws are not being enforced when dealing with illegals. Legal Entry is not causing the problem - it's illegal entry. And as for the drug war?? What a money pit of a joke. 10 times the amount of high quality 85% pure on ave. coke in Aspen in the early 2000 compared to stomped crap in the early 80's. Luckly Pitken County looks the other way on use of coke. So the drug war? Not worth the money spent to stop it. It's a joke. Needs to be reformed big time. I vote legalize many drugs currently illegal and use the funds from these drugs to fund no income and low income people in health care. But thats a different topic.

I don't know about that area specifically but is everyone whose first language is spanish an 'illegal immigrant'? Did you ask them for green cards? I'm not even saying they aren't, but speaking spanish isn't a crime. In fact, I think we should be encouraging people to speak languages other than english. This is a bit off topic but in acadia there are actually americans whose first language isn't english and whose ancestors have been here for hundreds of years...yes, legally. And the funny thing is that if you drive south for a couple of hours, you'll find some irish people in boston who speak impeccable english but don't have any documents.... illegal immigrants!

Ok, I guess you don't really understand what I'm saying, so try this: there is so much illegal immigration because not enough people are allowed in legally. Instead of letting in engineers, scientists, doctors etc. and enough unskilled people to pick fruit, mow your lawn and pack your meat (sorry, i couldn't help it...bongsmilie), you're only gonna get the people who are clever or desperate enough to sneak in. I'm all for even harsher border controls if we can let it in enough people legally to cover the needs of our economy. They would have done what you're suggesting under bush, but the pro-business republicans stopped it because it would have been a disaster for the economy.

And to be honest, when you say talk about language, borders and culture I get the sense that what bothers you isn't 'illegal' migration, it's hispanic migration, be it legal or not. Am I wrong?

Yes, the drug war is a different topic but I get the sense that we agree at least there.:weed:

I like all people that work. I don't like adult children. I hate gangs and the violence that comes with it. I like quality drugs - when I did more than just pot/wine/crown etc.
I don't like deliberatly stupid people, lazy, worthless whiners and cry babies.
I like men of honor and women of honor. I hate dishonor of virtue.

And, like you said, I too would have done everything I could to make my life better- even if that ment jumoing a border. But I also would have known the consiquenses. I would have been woman enough or man enough in your case , to face the fall out of my actions.

But when you take all that the country has to give and give nothing back but trash and crime and gangs and all other filth- it pisses me off.

Lack of respect. Respect our country. Don't come here and make demands on me, my way of life and money.
People like that I just want to... just make them leave - the hard way.

I guess I hate dis-respect most of all. That and being lied to and deceived. I hate evil and love the decent men and women of this country and the world. It's the indecent (malicastkites/ Greek) unjust judges of a matter that tick me off.

I compare my feelings with what the founders of our country enivisioned our nation to be. I compare my feelings with what I believe God wanted for us all. It's the theft and destruction of those aspirations; seeing our country and the world being made low with all manner of evil, deceit and deception ... it makes me mad.

Now, do we sit still and do nothing?
Or do we fight for what is right?I'm for freedom and responcibilty.
How about you?

I like the diatribe and actually agree with some of it in a way, but what the fuck are you talking about? Is this related to the discussion at all or aimed at anyone in particular? Are you posting in the wrong thread? Have you smoked yourself completely silly? What the fuck man?

In responce to your post 110 mr. wizard. And I'm not a dude little Boe Peep. Couldn't figure that out? IQ of 100 needed to pass.
Ok, in that case I have no idea what your talking about. What's all this stuff about virtue, gangs, honor....seriously, that was just brainfart of random mostly crazy ramblings that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. Maybe I'm not smart enough and you'll have to enlighten me. Or maybe someone else can?

Oh, and I say dude regardless of gender. But I hadn't really given it much thought to be honest. You're a very angry person in any event....

Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9, with many Democrates in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol.

recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen.

passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes.

passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so. More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi, Florida.

passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles.

passed a law that ALL driver's license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language.
And there is something wrong with this??

Redneck??

Rather be in company of these so called 'rednecks' than hang with a bunch of uneducated, freedom hating fucktards that currently infest America!

When I say decisions should be left to the individual I mean peaceful individuals who are not encroaching on others. Pumping toxins in a river? Sounds like somebody is encroaching.

I do not believe government should dictate morality or legislate and prosecute victimless crimes. I wholly reject the nanny state.

So we agree on the big picture. The hard part is figuring out where the encroachment begins and it's not always black and white. But that is precisely what our politics SHOULD be about, not this moronic drivel about baby jesus in the courthouse and immigrants.

But what does an uneducated, freedom hating america infesting fucktard like myself know about it....?

The encroachment is often begun "legally" by some arm of government. The encroachment could be disallowing a person to own their body, by using force against a marijuana smoker.

The encroachment could be against the fruit of your labor, for instance insisting what a person will do with their money. Like using force to make you buy insurance.

The encroachment could be against a persons private property. For instance, you never really "own" Real Estate. The government places a lien on it to secure tribute in the form of property tax.

Abe23, I must apolgize to you and anyone else that has been ofended by Justines cutting remark.

The Ten Commandments: they have been the foundation for government and moral code for many people and nations.

But the point most people miss regarding them is that if anyone command is broken - someone is hurt.
Do no harm to yourself or another or God if you believe in Him is the under lying theme.

Yet most people turn it into a religious thing and 'damn' them, the Ten, all together, so to speak. Hatred of a simple and common sence code baffels me.

Immigration is much the same way. Illegal immigration deals with the violation of that law. All illegals know they are violating it and still choose to do so.

Do you see any good coming from that kind of law?
Do you see any harm coming from the violation of immigration law?

Is there a 'penalty' or harm done to an innocent person for the violation of that law?
Any damage or negitive cost incured by an innocent person?

Look at who is harmed by violating a law.

Regarding the Ten Commandments: It's the right of free speach and in the power of the State to present them. No law violated there. And it say the 'Lord thy God' if you have one or not. It applies to you if you do and has now control over you if you don't. That's called free will. You can choose to abide by then or not.

Making Marijuana legal in many states corrected a created or legislated harm as it was harmless to begin with.
Look how many lies it took to make it illegal.

Immigration Law were for Idenification and managed control of people coming into this country because without such control, a harm would be created.

Non-enforcement has created the harm that now resides in countless communities.

Proper laws create protection from harm.
Improper laws create harm.

Think about it.

Look at all the laws in that light and then you may see the different types of laws we have.

Most of our laws now adays are Revenue Enhancement Laws in this country.

Why do you think that is?

And who do they harm? Is there a harm to Revenue Enhancement Laws??

BTW The Love of money IS the root of all evil.
