And here's the babies so far. I got them in starter pots, and there were no tap-roots showing under the other 10.

They all have a 5th or 6th layer of the flat sugar leaves so far, but they all now have the little curly leaves popping all around.IMG_1204.JPG

I think tomorrow is flip day for the veg-room. They are almost ready for the next watering and drinking well. Top-feed and RO this time.

Having 2 pop from 12 (so far) has me looking at actual flower room plants. Having the fem in each batch helps, but if I have one fem in the RM's, that's 2 in flower after the NL (BW and RM), with one and 2 possibles in the next batch (GDP and CJ).

So flip and sex (a week or so) and I'll know if I should drop another set. If all 7 are fem, I don't have room. If only 4 are I am wasting space...

But having room for 6 plants, two in each batch will work as well.

Further investigation (opening the pods) showed they were too damp, and the 2 popping was probably luck. I don't know if you can waterlog seeds - but if you can I did.

Anyway, the good news is that 3 of the remaining 4 Crown Jewel had nubs or tails, so I squeezed out the pods a little and may have a crop of them :)

Happy eeeeaaaaarly Monday! All you poor bastards that have to go to work I love ya, but I'm having a Sam Adams Oktoberfest, burning a Northern Lights and chillin ;)

The Northern Lights Monster-Cropped clones may be the best decision I have made. No browns yet, so here's just a group photo and bud porn. I have 2 "different" strains. The NL are my highest CBD strain, and you can tell - it's like the perfect evening smoke, body relaxing but it doesn't knock you out. (It's 2am and I'm updating pics LOL). And all this came from one seed. I only have a little of the mom left, and even though she was chopped with just a few amber she's cool. (The other strain is the Hulk because it's an 80% sativa)

Hopefully this is a good news-good news story, but time will tell. The flippers got their 25% (400ppm) flip feed a few days ago, but only a quart each because I didn't want to load in the ppm - but I got no runoff.

Tonight was just RO and top dressing. for the poor black widow...
IMG_1230.JPGShe's looking great, and @morugawelder and I were having a side-bar about pruning. Since I am flipping tonight the two shoots in the center are definitely goners. By the time they pop pistils, these would have a second set of leaves popping, and would be those "extra" stems coming off a fat top. I'll snip them as soon as I can get scissors around them with no hassle.

Anyway, I scratched up the topsoil and in the background you can see the cup of soil. I mix the dry-feed (this time at 1/3 recommended dosage) with a cup of new soil, and I shake it like a mixed drink. I watered her to run-off and the ppm was high. Like in the 3000's. So I said FUCK!! Yes, I live alone and I still said it out loud. LOL. The cat freaked out.

I ran another gallon through her and it didn't change much so I said screw it. I ran a few gallons through the RM without adding the top-feed, and their ppm were high as well (2500's) so I'm saving the top feed until next time, and I'll soak it first to check ppm, then decide on feed %.

But the reason I chose this system is because it is mostly organic. Hopefully this will mitigate the possible damage, but I am going to further reduce my feedings. This is just crazy, and it has to be the top-feed. It has a time-released aspect just because the organic stuff in it is chunky, rather than being a "Big Bloom" compost tea made from the same stuff.

The possible good news is that the RM's after a few gallons of watering showed the same lack of ppm loss - meaning that I may not have done extra damage by adding the extra top-feed on the BW. Time will tell, but they are happy for now.

They all have a very light LST on them now as well. It was that or prune leaves, so I stretched and tucked instead.

For the tent here's the before when I first checked on them.

The GDP is being hardened, and I leave that cup off for a few hours at a time. It's not sealed, but I mist inside the cup when I put it on. The dome looked too humid now that seedlings are growing so I opened up some more vents.
IMG_1244.JPG And for being tiny, the GDP has very defined lobes on the first set of true leaves.

I don't know if any of you keep track of your grows. I kept a lot more data at first, but I whittled it down to this. Sets of seed drops or clone takings (grows) are boxed. some of those fantastically even-ounce harvests are by design now 8) What is larf? any small stuff over "X" ounces

I wish I had kept better track of individual veg and flower days, but if I really cared I have a hard drive with all the grow pics, date-stamped. I was discussing scrog's with @Laughing Grass, and the pro's/con's of manifolding. This is my grows since I got into the new house. Gradually working up from a closet, to a separate tent/closet/add-on for seedlings/veg/flower.

The wet weight is gospel, but the dry weight is more bud and less stem (and larf) included as I have gotten bulk and needed storage space (more pre-cure pruning) - And this is just bud I have cured. doesn't include larf I have used while drying, or keif or anything.

I had practice grows before this with bag-seeds and blurples, this is all the QB grows. Still waiting on a final weight on the Hulk, which is why the highlight.

Ya man, we’re very different but also the same in some ways. I really enjoy your growing and appreciate the science you bring to the process. Keep up the great work!

I only mentioned the wet weight, because I haven't really changed how I initially chop and prune before I hang them.

Thanks dude! I just enjoy it. Before weed - the military - then more weed I had a high IQ 8-) - no telling what happened to that LOL

I am still curious. I like the science behind how the plants grow and how I can make them do things now that I understand some of it. So if I can help anyone else grow better weed, righteous! I think that is why I am attracted to the tester seed thing. I get to pop (or not) more seeds and learn more stuff. Having fem seeds is great. I'll get bud. But those are the already genetically stable seeds. I have more super skunk seeds left. I know what they'll do... I like seeing stuff like all the extra shoots the one Royal Mystery (apt name) put out. I think that if it fems, that will be one to watch in flower.

I learned from the veg plants. Instead of top-feeding I am going to feed-water-feed-water, alternating the liquid feed and the top feed.
ppm run off with plain RO was about 1500. Getting a sprinkling of browns on a few plants now. \

Day 1 of 12/12 and I swear they are already taking off. 10 days younger and the BW has caught up with the runt RM.

I'm a number junkie, I can't help but look for commonality between sets of numbers. there's five non conforming outliers, but on average if you multiply your wet weight by .21 you can accurately estimate your dry yield 67% of the time.

My logging system is so rudimentary. I've never actually weighed my plants wet after harvest. I will on my next harvest.

LOL I use .20 That is why I kept the wet weights as a standard. I have re-configured what I consider 'larf' since I started, so my dry weight is just stuff that gets fully cured. The pretty stuff ;)

I wash my buds after I chop, (10:1 h2o2 and water) so weighing them before I wash helps me make sure I'm not hanging wet weed to dry. I keep a fan on it until it's back to the original weight or a little less. So no matter what else I have done, the freshly chopped and manicured limb with a little bit of stem- handle is standard for a "control" data point :)

On my chart the outliers were one that hermied and one that was half a manifold (broke at the base, hence "lefty") that barely made it to ambers. They are the 2 shaded rows.

The main reason I posted it was so you can compare. Not just plant weight, but the frequency of harvest. I don't know which is better yield-wise, and I don't care about grams/watt because I can fit 4-6 plants under my lights. Do I divide by 4? Multiply? I think that's why I go by pot size. I think that determines how big your plants get. and my over/under as far as getting an ounce per pot-gallon has been grow issues, so it has been a pretty good baseline to aim for.
