can you grow shit with these. When I get my cfl and accesories I see all these halogen lights can you do any part of your grow stage with them and do they get pretty warm cause I am looking for more heat its winter and closet gets under 70F some days so just wondering I did a search and got nadda on the subject on here:weed:

their no good they dont put off the right light and put off to much heat from everything ive read. if you wanted to use one to get some heat i suppose you could but if thats the case you might as well add more good lights and make the heat useful to

yeaaa ive heard all the same things about Halogen lights... but one thing i was wondering too.. is everyone always sais theyre not the right spectrum.. what about the "Daylight" ones..?? wouldnt those be at about 6000K?? and isnt that the right spectrum for vegging??

Also... if your looking for something to give off a little bit of heat.. you could buy one of the "Daylight" incandescent bulbs (6500K) and just put that light/lamp pretty far away from your plants.. but have it facing in the direction of your plants... that will heat things up.. i had to do that for a while and it worked fine.. just MAKE SURE ITS NOT TOO CLOSE TO YOUR PLANTS!! cuz they will burn very quickly.. trust me.. lol

its because they dont put out shit for light compared to the heat. i just looked up one to see and a 50w halogen bulb puts out around 600 lumens. you get 3 times that from a 26w cfl

Ok everyone, I used 10 compact florecent lights in my 5'x4' grow room. At first the plants responded amazingly through the vegging cycle but when it came down to flowering I didnt get very dense herb. I have to say though that if you want to cut down on electric cost and high heat compact is defenitly the way to grow. I yeilded about 3 ounces from my first plant. I also had to harvest that plant 1 month early due to a white flie infestation. that plant have so much more to give.

Halogens are not good all around. They get VERY hot, dont really put out what the plants need, and are a fire hazard.

Just stick to Flouros, HID, or CFL
