Hanging plant, root ball n all?

Any of you guys heard of hang drying the full plant with root ball still intact? I heard it alows for slower drying time. thanks.

and it gets dirt all over. what good does it provide? none
if the roots are out of the soil what good are they? none

but its still a free country, do as you please.

But why all the extra fuss. Nothing in the roots you want & it will no doubt slow the dry time. But to what end?

Not to pick an argument, however if "that is all" why did you ask in the first place?

good chance it could slow the drying time by a few days.... I could see the point in doing this if you wanted to sort of 'cure' while drying...

yeah there's all kinds of skepticism towards classic methods... indoor growers believing they know everything there is to know about growing...

but yeah, I still think the way you presented this thread could be viewed as asking for bad responses, but I still don't agree with them.

well, wouldnt the plant still be growing and alive if you did this? Is it in the dark?

Then it would be the same as saying "should I give my plant x days of darkness before harvest"- is that the question or the goal of this idea? At least some people support that. Idk if I do.... so ya

the plant is alive anyways until it is mostly dry.

Im a complete noob to this stuff and I have been reading here for weeks trying to get the best possible method for this drying and curing stuff and Im frankly puzzled and a little skeptical. I plan on trying this method with one of my plants next week, and I would like to know also if it does indeed slow the drying time and the general results as I intend to try this among other methods next week. Im going to try the method suggested around here and have everything including several caliber 3 to help me get it fine tuned as described. My reason for wanting to try several methods is I was thinking more on the lines of the finished product as in if it smells like weed or cut grass, and not so much potency as Im pretty sure its gonna kick some butt if its cured or not. So I figured I would try as many different methods as possible with a plant being used for each method. Theres too many horror stories ive read about bad results with smell being like hay or cut grass. I would think your idea makes sense as it seems to be a priority to dry it slow and leaving the root ball would definitely slow it down. You can always rinse the dirt out before you hang it which is what Im going to try. I havent done this in over 30 years and after all the time and effort ive put into this Im going to at least do some experimenting with as many different methods as i can think of. I look at it this way if I destroy or ruin some , its no big deal if I can find a way to get the results I want. Next week is gonna be fun.

If the cured smell is of "cut grass or hay" then the curing process was not properly done.

Thats probably correct and Im not able to verify or confirm it though at this time. But when Im done Ill have allot better idea of what works and what doesnt. Its not rocket science and Im sure that I can do exactly whats recommended but I feel it necessary to explore all avenues and see what happens. One way or the other Im going to figure this out. Now please dont think that Im doubting the recommended procedures offered here, Im just hedgeing my bets so to speak. Im going to try every method I have read about and Im sure one of them will give me the skunk I desire. Whether it be the conventional method suggested on this and other sites, or water curing, hanging complete plant with root ball, hanging complete plant without root ball, hanging branches manicured, hanging branches un-manicured, in the dark, in daylight, and about a dozen more different ideas, I feel its needed for my own satisfaction. If I dont do it how will I ever know what works best.

Yes it is, trying to figure out how to dry the rest slower.

Going to leave root ball intact and leave sugar leaf on.

im not agreeing with you.
If I was, still there is a big difference if you cut it at the base and hang it or if you dont and leaves the roots intact. I dont see ur point even if what you said is true.

do some research into curing... a lot of what happens in the first stage of curing involves a LIVING process.

you might want to poke holes in the bag were the roots so you dont get mold growing on them.ive herd of people using a humidifier to dry slower.

mine dried out to fast also but i would cut each branch off and manicure it wet.it turned out really dark after dry but was light green wet.it lost the smell,but ima cure some to c if the smell will come back.
