Forgive me but mobilizing forces, invading countries and waging war should have a little more clout behind it then "well, it seemed like the right thing to do at the time..."...
Viatnam war was part of a global strategy involving many nations...we just have the broadest shoulders

Everyone realizes it was a mistake now bucky......what's your point?
i find it odd that some people are so angry about what one single woman did, and try to literally turn a blind eye via censorship at what us civilized, "culturally superior" americans did to entire villages of women and kids.

Missing an exit on a highway is a "mistake".

Coordinating with an enemy government and posing with enemy equipment and soldiers is not a "mistake", it's treason.

Dumb cunt should have been given a noose to wear around her skinny little neck as soon as she set foot back in the nation.
Oh hell yes @Wilksey, oh hell yes.

what does Hanoi Jane have to do with the drug war?
I brought up the drug war because your seeming justification for Vietnam was that "many nations did it too", as many nations uphold US drug policy. So what, big deal.. Just because you thought it was the right thing to do at the time doesn't mean it was the right thing to do at the time.. (just like the drug war)

you should always be re-evaluating your strategy, we did things 50 years ago we wouldn't do the same today. The Vietnam war was a shithole, I should know I was there.....I'm not going to defend being there, but don't be quick to judge what happenes in the jungle until you have slept a few nights in it...

I totally get and sympathize with the soldiers that were drafted and HAD to go and even with the soldiers that thought they were doing the world a favor. I get it. The propaganda machine was turning big back then. But we weren't doing the world a favor. And we ALL should get that now. And realize a Hanoi Jane should be pretty low on the list of people to hate. Laos still has an estimated 50 MILLION unexploded ordnances. Think about that the next time you take the kids camping.

Sorry to hear that. I can only imagine. My best friends dad was a chopper machine gunner tasked with making sure the Agent Orange got dispensed without incident. It tore him up. MS, bone cancer and all kinds of other shit. Last year he was told 6 months died in 2. Probably not your cup of tea but this is a pretty good Vietnam song.
