Got my kid this weekend, but sneaking bong hits of my Trainwreck, nice and strong. We're going to watch the director's cut of The Shining, it's his first time seeing it ;) He's used to more graphic stuff, but not this psychological gem. Pizza's on the way, we ain't goin' out there. It's a madhouse...
So THAT's where that movie went. I couldn't find it on t.v. ANYWHERE last night. I bitched about it in Random Jib. YOU had it all along…..

How was the director's cut?

It was a slow torrent download, as I'm guessing thousands were downloading it on Halloween. Kubrick's cut was great, a little more profanity from Nicholson and a few more scenes included than the theatrical cut. My kid LOVED it, he said it really fucked with his head more than any gory movie. No cheap, formulaic shit and stupid jump scares, just the old psych out ;)

How old is said kid? (don't have to answer just remembering my age when I first saw) I thinkI was about 12. I didn't get the pacing and the mindfuck part. I thought the bartender and other ghosts were real people in real time. What a dumbass LOL. Also I hated that horrible carpet. Now I'm convinced Kubrick did that on purpose.. part of the madness

Did anyone like Eyes wide shut?

He's 14, and he thought the hotel people were hallucinations until Grady let him out of the walk in freezer. The carpeting, candy apple red bathroom, and the overall style sure helped with the mind fucking ;) I liked Eyes Wide Shut, but it was not a good movie. I try to model most of my gatherings after that flick...

first time I saw the shining as a youngin, i remember freaking when scatman got the axe. then the hedgerow labyrinth chase scene had me on the edge of my seat. and the woman in the bathroom was absolutely terrifying at the reveal.

overall the movie is disturbing but a teenager shld be able to begin to process most of it. what a cool dad tyler, for watching that kubrick with your kid.
