The Ancient Irish Celts on this day would celebrate the end of the year in their calender & prepare for the winter, lighting bonfires (we use pumpkins) to remember the souls lost in the previous year.
They would dress up in costumes in order too not be recognized by the ghosts of the deceased that they believed would return on that day to visit their ancestral homes.
This Halloween, 2020, is going to be memorable for all the wrong reasons unfortunately.
Way too many souls lost, almost too many to count it seems.
