This is my first organic grow with plants i was given already in Happy Frog soil and need to be transplanted. I just was never told what Happy frog to use. Should i just buy the Potting soil or what works best for veg state??

happyfrog and ffof mixed 50/50 works pretty good.

I like bag for bag with amendments and perlite a little better so far rather than 50/50 which I tried first, ocean forest is 1.5 cubic feet, happy frog comes in 2.0 CF.

I actually will go ahead and say you'll need to add perlite, it takes too long between waterings, the soil stays wet for too long IMO. I did one grow without perlite with the above soil mixes and its no good for me, I like to water every 3-4 days max, some of my smaller plants were going 5-6-7 days and thats too long for me, makes me worry about root rot and all those problems I dont want to have.

go with happy frog natural and organic. it has a tendency to turn as hard as a rock durring the dry time which makes it a bitch to re-wet. this is why it needs to be mixed 50/50 with something (i HATE FF so i cant recommend that) roots organic is the best soil out there but can be expensive, im pretty local to the processing plant and pay 15-18 bucks for 1.5 cu feet but its well worth the money. i actually have a bag of happy frog NO sitting around my house for the last couple months because i dont really have a use for it, im in pure roots and u can check out my (used to be PotProphet) 4K thread in organics to see the results!

good luck with whatever u choose.

last bag of happy frog I picked up had thrips

I'm starting to think an azamax drench is a necessity no matter how clean you keep your grow room. Roots has thrips (I think it was thrips) as well I've seen posted all over the site as well. That really sucks, this spring I am going to see what I can source near me. I pay top dollar ($27+) for FF or roots and they only have the camo looking bag of roots though, I've been tempted to try it but I heard about the thrips bullshit and now I read this.

i found a lone thrip in my room while doing the weekly cleaning, its from the roots. but thrips are one of the most common problems as well as gnats when doing organics. "if thrips kick your ass you shouldnt be growing" -Sub ive always agreed, i wont quit using roots because of it because needing a top drench of azamax is a small price to pay for the quality of soil they produce.

i also use the camo bag, the original or organic mix- its the same thing just diff labels.

707 is good but its made for amending, it has a lighter nutrient mix so u have room to improve to ur liking.

Well i hope i don't get any bugs..I do have them in a cedar room which is suppose to keep away all insects..

it will... deter bugs from coming into the room but when they come with the soil, it will only keep them in the room. if the soil is contaminated u will have to drench but its really not a big deal at all

its all a part of growing, especially organically

I've used the 50/50 mix of HF/OF for years with good results, I highly recommend it

These were grown in 50/50 of HF/OF. I just add some fresh compost & worm castings & a little dolomite

I've never had any problems with this mix, I use the sh*t out of this stuff!

Good luck
