Harsh tar burnt coal buds

I cut the plant, hung the whole thing upside down inside the grow tent at week 10 of flowering. Temp and humidity both hovering around 65/65%. Exhaust working at a low setting, fan on the low setting away from the plant facing the wall. Dried for 10 or 11 days.

Was afraid of going to 14 because of over-drying. When I harvested buds were somewhat dry on the outside but the stems weren't breaking yet, they were getting there though. I put them straight into grovebags and heat sealed them in. It's been 2 weeks and 5 days. I've been taking samples each week and up until now it's barely smokable. Ash is black like tar, tastes bad and is harsh. I opened one bag 2 days ago and put a hygrometer in it. I would imagine that if anything it would be high in humidity since I took extra precautions to make sure it wasn't harvested too late. Humidity inside the grovebag is static at 52%.

What the fuck is going on?

Did you manicure it well. Extra leaf makes the smoke hot and harsh. I like mine with a little moisture left on the inside. It should stick to your fingers a bit when you break it up. Best to also have a little air circulation. I don't know that I would have sealed it in a bag.
Damn I didn't think about that one. I'm going to open a bag right now and take some pics and post here. About the sealing, for grove bags it's recommended.

Must have dried right down but the very centres if you're only getting 52% after sealing them up.

No time for a cure so you're smoking pure chlorophyll mixed with THC. If it tastes that bad I'd turn it into BHO and do dabs or use for edibles.

I wet trim and double bag my buds to take up to 5 weeks to dry mine down to semi-moist then burp in cans for another 4 or 5 weeks before ready to smoke and there is no green in the buds at all so it's smooth and smells great.

I make most of it into oils now as I smoke very little. Eat some everyday tho.

My room humidity is very low 20-30%, I put the grovebags in the grow tent that has a humidifier at 60% and the humidity in the bags stabilized where it should have been. There are too many variables, I just ordered a good moisture meter, hopefully I can get the guesswork out of the way when drying

How's it grind ?

I've smoked loads of bud without any cure and I've never had harsh smoke or black Ash.

Did you spray with anything or feed them anything unusual?
I didn't spray with anything or use anything weird. I push a bit with the nutes but not to the point of actual damage, I get slight tip burn. That's also something I'm changing, I'm going to keep the nutes at the minimum and not push.

I run 10% to 20% during the summer and I don't add humidity to dry. The trick, for me, in low humidity is to jar early (I use Mason jars) and usually within 1 day at my highest temps I put them in jars then burp. My bud's fine, ie not harsh and smells/tastes great when smoked/vaped.

The outside turns black like tar after burning and the inside has some grey. Never seen it like this, I hope I don't end up with demonic possession

That does look nasty! It's either demonic possession or you pissed off your ol' lady and she trashed your stash. :)

The ash looks grey so maybe it's your wraps. Have you tried just smoking some in a pipe or bong or even a regular rolling paper?

Wow, and your pix, wow. Sorry your stuff turned so bad. Looks just like about 40% of the dispo weed we buy. I've had some
that I just couldn't even smoke. And the nugs look fine, too. How the hell do they ruin a perfectly good plant?
Or i get stuff that just drips tar out of the butt end, turning lips, teeth brown from the goo, joints stick to the tubes.
How the hell does the dispo, in good conscience, justify selling shit like that? Curing is pretty important, i guess.

It happened when I overfed a plant trying to correct a deficiency by adding more.
That kinda makes sense, if dispos exhibit the same symptoms. Their suppliers are dumping
nutes to increase quantity and rake in the $,$$$. The dispos should hold their feet to the fire on this
and not allow bad quality stuff on their shelves! What the hell ever happened to competition?
