Harvest no potency smells and tastes horrible

Just harvested a few blue cheese and they looked and smelled absolutely beautiful until I picked them, dried them out and put them in jars for 5+ weeks now and they still smell and taste horrible. The potency is also minimum at best. barely regs.

I used a 600w hps cool tube with neccessary fan and filter.

Botanicare nutes, LESS than reccommended

All natural soil no additives.

Ph'ed entire time and flushed with clean water for last 2 almost 3 weeks.

Picked when trics were about 30/70 amber just like all the pics show

What I believe may have caused the problem

Temps were extremely high during the day (it was summer). high 80s low to mid 90's with very high humidity. at night they would drop to the low 80s and the humidity would reamain.. can these temps be the problem????

Also noticed that when I hung up the buds they dried in 3 days which seemed alot faster than anyone on here ever talked about.. and I mean DRY.. almost to the point of too dry.

This was a simple grow. No crazy experimenting with new nutes and over doing anything.. just trying to get good buds not worried about quantity. I put alot of time and care into everything just couldnt afford to have some kind of temp control. If anyone could maybe suggest what may have happened it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot guys. Im open to any correction just take it easy im new.

Sounds like you already know most of your issue...heat. Not really sure, but thats what it sounds like. Wish I could help more. Im sure you know, but did you burp the jar?

Does the smell/taste remind you of hay, or cut grass that has been sitting around too long? Also, are the buds still really dry? I had a friend that had the same problem, including the buds not being very potent, and when he gave me some, I threw an orange and lemon peel into the jar to let the bud re-hydrate. In my experience, when the bud is too dry, it burns so hot and fast, that it seems to not get you as high. I might be talking out my ass on this one, but that's just my experience. Also, the lemon and orange peel will give it a sweet flavor. I would keep them and the buds in the jar for a few days, and make sure to burp the jar like gotigers0420 recommended. Good luck, bro!

Did you burp the jars the jars over the 5 week period? Could be many things but I doubt temps are the cause. Growing is easy. Drying and curing is where the real artistry begins...

The whole point of dry/cure is to pull the moisture out of the buds as slow as you can make it. That's why I use glass. It's airtight.
Sounds like your grow was a success but you dried out the buds too fast. Subcool has great method posted in Organics. And I use hygrometers in the jars so I know where they're at every day of the cure.

2 things bro, 1- wait till all hairs are amber or no hairs ,just final swelling. 2- the buds were NOT dry in 3 days(the outside feels crispy but the inside is damp) stems were still wet, and you put them in jar for 5 weeks, mold will kill the THC and ruin the taste. Dont put them in the jar /bag untill they are dry, try 6-7 days.

Possibly bad genetics. THe beans can be labled anything and still contian a bad set of DNA. Excessive heat and curing mistakes (assuming no mold ^^^) will not effect potency that much. Excess heat will make the plants grow like shit and not reach their potential, but that is totally obvious.

Well I actually did fail to mention a few things because I was trying to keep it simple.. but this is my 2nd grow. Same problems with various different strains all ordered from attitude. As far as picking I found the picture chart on the forums and used a scope so i didnt screw that up. I did the proper curing method, burping and keeping the glass jars in a cool dark place. I mean even a bad grow should be ok after 5 6 weeks in jars.. but literrally NO potency and the smell and taste defintely got alot better but still not even regs quality.. and the plants did really look great before I picked them.. alot of resin and a good smell.. I even tried different drying and curing methods on each different strain this time around with no improvements. I'm really puzzled because I know guys that throw seeds in ground dirt in half cut 2 liter soda bottles with no nutes and grow pretty good chron under fluorescent lights.

i said it before , growing from seeds is like playing the lottery
and the seed makers know it ,, they should give us 20 seeds per pack
its not easy to find a keeper in a 5 or 10 pack , trust me
lots of bunk/junk out there ,, gotta just keep popping em

good luck

i agree it could be a genetic thing, hard to say how when they smell gr8 when picked, truth is u may never no y, but its a lot of effort for a bad result so i feel ya man ! could of been the heat but i doubt it, though to much heat in excess of the nineties for more than a few days could be damaging, but fuck it soilder on get ya next one on the go do what u do coz it all sounds like ur doin all correct so put it down to genetics if it was one type of plant and not 2 diferent types coz then that would probly rule out genetics, but is what is now unfortunatly m8 so i wish the very best of look for ya next adventure. peace out man !
