Harvest time problems....help +rep

Whats goin on RUI,

But this is my first grow and its finally about time to chop er down (got another week or so left in it).

But my problem is I got this girly growin in my college house and I am about to go home for winter break and theres pretty much no way I can hang her in my house at home. So I was wondering if it would be possible to just hang it in my closet for 3 weeks...

Basically I just need to know if I can hang it in my closet for 3 weeks, OR if I can throw it in a trash bag and keep it in the trunk of my car for a couple days (RIGHT after I chop it down) THEN hang it once I get to my apartment for the break (I work at a ski resort so I'd have a place to hang it there).

So 2 questions:
1) Is it alright to hang for 3 weeks
2) Is it alright to put in a trash bag and leave it in a cold trunk for a day or two RIGHT after chopping down.

Thanks and much appreciated,
-Oldtimer

Neither of those 2 will help.

If you could somehow hang it up for a few days to start drying already before you leave then MAYBE it would be ok in your car for a couple of days. You could always open up the bag during your journey for a few hours to help with the drying process.

you can hang the plants wrapped in newspaper and keep in the closet to slow dry, 3 weeks is a stretch but it could work. Also I have seen a video of a cannabis cup crop being harvested and they put the plants in long boxes with some holes in them for a month before curing so there are long methods. The best way is to time it better because its important to do a good job on the dry and cure so all your hard work over the past months are worth it! I have made the same mistake and had to harvest before moving!! Good luck. (P.S like already stated no trash bag for extended time.)

hmm ha makin me nervous. But I would open the trash bag every couple hours and let the moisture out (I do know of mold, im that THAT big of a scrub :p . So with that said, is it alright with the trash bag method?

Also, would the cold be a factor?

thnks and +rep to all for the help

I'm with wanabe I'd make some kinda drying box to put in your car boot. I'm sure there's a simple enough way to do it.

Paper bag in the trunk. The trash bag will not contain the odor of a drying plant. Not one, two, or even three(well, MAYBE, nver tried). IF you take it with, paper bag or pillowcase as frmrboi said. If not, IDK. 3 weeks is a LOT of time to let them hang unless you used some kind of humidifier to keep humidity from getting too low. I have NO CLUE what that would do to your bud, though. I vote for choppin' and crusing. 2-4mph above the limit, cruise control, seatbelts, and a sober trip.

It's a low yield anyway, only .5-1oz (kept it low for my first time, and its just for personal use).

but I'm goin with the paper pag, pillowcase, or shoe box method (likin the shoebox).

its got a 4 hour drive, and a few hours of visiting time with parents then its gettin hung up. Thanks for the input.

yes and no, cold doesn't hurt the resin but the moisture condensing on it does. BTW you don't have enough posts yet for your + reps to count but thanks anyways.
ha, didn't know about the not rep utill certain post count, sorry for the false hope fellas

Yeah, I'm thinking the shoebox or paper bag would be the way to go...and DEFINITELY be extra careful with your driving so as not to invite any traffic stops that could catch a whiff of your goodies in the trunk. If you air it out for a few minutes while you make a rest stop to pee or grab a snack, you may want to park off to the side away from busy areas where someone might smell the buds wafting out (just in case it's strong enough to attract unwanted attention). Hope it works out for you!

put it in a pillow case then paper bag then plastic bag to mask the smell. It will be fine for the drive.

the issue is RIGHT after harvest their TOO wet to BAG for a night or two.. IF you could hang them for the 1st two days then bag... That would be a world of DIFF but they are just too wet right after cut
