Harvest Transport Question

I'm sure some folks have to do a little bit of traveling with their harvest to get home/where ever one does their drying. What do you folks do to keep the smell down in case of being pulled over on the way?

I was thinking something like freezer bags or turkey bags inside of a garbage bag or 2. Or a pet skunk in the backseat.

I'm looking for some feedback from the pros on this one.

In bags like you said then in a plastic trash can with the lid sealed tight with duct tape.

Why would you be pulled over?

If you're driving with product then don't speed, don't smoke, use your blinkers, ... If you obey they law you shouldn't be pulled over.

Would a rubber made tote type of thing work as well? Basically anything that can be sealed shut?

I am always a good driver, obey speed limits, signals, make sure my lights work all that good stuff but I have still been pulled over for BS reasons before. Such as the cop says you didn't signal for a lane change even though you did because you saw him in your mirror for the last mile. Basically just an excuse for the cop to check you out and see if they can catch you in something. I think we have all been there.

Ya the cops will just pull you over for no reason then say "oh there was a break and enter in the neighborhood and you/your veichel marches the discription..."

Just a thought if you are really scared.

Bag and seal like described above, put in trunk, call tow truck. Ride home.

Tow trucks rarely get pulled over, especially if you call on the same one the local police use.

Thats a pretty awesome idea, and not a bad reason to upgrade your AAA to Premium! haha

This is a REALLY bad idea, one of the most obvious things customs, police, snifferdogs ALL search for is coffee because its been used for many many years to try hide the scent of other drugs. Cocaine and heroin being the main two, so you know they're serious.

Wow, the tow truck is pretty genius. Way better if I had a buddy who owned one though. I'm not sure how one would play that off otherwise. "Hey I need a tow" Get to the garage closest to my home and say "Oh, I think the car works again, I'm gonna drive her home, see ya" Though as long a the tow truck gets paid they probably don't really care.

just unhook the the battery and ask to have the car dropped off at ur house. They cant tell you no and most them dont give a shit anyways. Have a buddy who owns a tow truck. Also had a friend ship a car from west coast to east coast loaded up

Yeah, most high volume tow truck drivers don't give a shit, just far to busy, and probably have another tow waiting. This does depend on where you live, as some trucks operate differently.

If you are worried about the car still working. Just shut car doors without locking, put key in pocket and say you lost it. Have the company drop it anywhere near home, reach in pocket to pay the guy, and magically find key or wait until he leaves. Laugh and drive away. That driver, if he has driven for awhile has seen many dumber things. He'll count cash, laugh, tell his buddies, and head to the next one.

If you have an AWD or 4x4, don't use the lost key, just call the tow truck, ask for flatbed, and IF they ask, say you don't know what is wrong, but it won't go faster than 25mph. Towtruck drivers might be able to figure out the problem, but most won't be dumb enough to try and do it on the side of the road. They are there to tow.

I should say it is important to use a common or well known company, as I would think they would be less likely to be pulled over for a violation.
