hello,
I'm about two weeks away from harvest (I think). and I read on a website that you should harvest when 50 - 70% of the hairs have darkened. Now does that mean on one bud. Or the whole plant overall?
Hey mate, I dont know for sure but I'd assume the plant on average? I mean you wouldn't want just one bud to be ready when the rest are a bit behind. But I can't say I know
Checking the trichomes with a 60x loupe is the best way to get a perfect harvest.
When they are cloudy is at the optimal peak of THC, when they start to turn red, then THC starts to degrade. You want most of the plant to be cloudy, with a few turning red. I know there are some growers who believe in the double harvest, where they chop the top colas first, then wait another week before chopping the lower buds, as the lower buds tend to mature slower due to light penetration.
I'm not sure that there is any sure fire rule here but I have found the same thing to be true where the bottom buds have finished and the tops are still growing lots of white hairs.
