Harvesting and smell

So I heard that harvesting can stink up your house to high heavens. What is the part smells the most? The trimming or hanging/drying.

I cannot have my house smell since I live in a town home and dont want to worry about my neighbors. While I am legal, there are bylaws about smell in my townhouse complex.

I am only harvesting 1 very small plant which probably wont even net an ounce, can I trim and hang out side of my tent with out the fear of smell? or do I need to sit in my tent with a carbon scrubber while I trimm and then hang in the tent as well?

Rather not hang in the tent as I want to have another plant in there!!!

the only way it aint gona smell is hanging it in your tent with scrubber...you might be able to hang it in a cardboard box in your tent and still have a plant in there

Thanks, can I trim outside my tent or does that also stink? TBH don't mind hanging in tent, but would like to do the trimming with my wife. We both cant do that in the tent.

Cardboard box is interesting but my tent is 75 degrees with lights on which is too hot for hanging. I am going to have to think of a creative solution for this in the future when I am truly perpetual. Thanks again for the quick reply!

it will also stink but if you only have one plant and your wife helping you it shouldnt take you long

the temp in the cardboard box will be slightly cooler because its not in direct light it worked for me anyway

how bad does it smell in the tent now? for 1 small plant you could make a bin/box with a DIY carbon filter on it outside of your tent.

Trimming is a bitch. I do it in the middle of the night. Or I get paranoid, you can smell it outside your house normally...and I grow low odor sativas

It does smell. I had to change my sheets last time from what was clinging to me.i would recommend doing it in the tent if you are worried.

You might want to trim in the tent.
When I trim in my garage (doors and windows shut) my wife can smell it at the mailbox which is 75 feet away.

Fuck yeah Colorado, smell my stinky weed and deal with it.
Damn it is good to be legal.

Btw, I wore the clothes I was trimming in to my hockey game that night.
My clothes stunk up the whole locker room. I had to go tell the owner it wasn't a skunk, it was me.

Again, hooray legal.

Thank you all excluding Medical Gardens for their posts they were extremely helpful. I will be trimming and hanging in my tent for this harvest and building a wooden drying closet with scrubber for next harvests. Very helpful!

if your worried about smell about your weed then you shouldn't grow weed.
How about you stfu if you don't want to add anything constructive to the post. There is multiple ways to control odor every step of the process including the harvesting. I was asking how bad the smell was so I could understand how much odor control I would have to put in place. Your comment was made only to aggravate another individual, the equivalent to purposely farting in an elevator full of people. So that is how I will remember you as a fart in an elevator.

I hung mine in the tent, couldn't smell it unless I opened it up, I use the air wick spray fresheners around the house no ones ever smelt weed.
One thing i would suggest investing in if you ever choose to grow a few more plants is a vaportek. They are seriously good! I only have mine on the number 3 dial and my house smells so nice. Everyone asks me what air freshener i use when they are around!

You can make a simple carbon scrubber with a plastic pot, a small circular fan, and a tub of citrus magic to size. Google that shazz

two things you should do
1- buy renuzit crystal from amazon its very cheap and last for ever
2- buy the magic trimmer from youtube it 8 times faster than hand trimming and give you the same results so you can finish fast
I like the crystals idea! will get some and if they dont work can still make the bedroom smell fresh! Trimmer is too much of an investment for how much I am growing (I'm the only patient), I know you are growing a lot more then me lol. So the investment makes sense.

So I harvested half the plant and trimmed in the tent, it definitely stank while I was trimming. It didn't take me long since I only harvested half the plant. I don't think the tent smells that bad when they are hanging. So I think ill make the DIY scrubber and put it in box for hanging.

Don't understand. 1 plant, 1 oz and you are worried? I would just take that bitch outside and pluck all the fan leaves off. Get a box, cut some slits for airflow and leave it outside in a cool area. It might take a week or more but all that work is not worth the hassle for 1 oz. Move on.

There are much better trimmers than those "magic trimmers."
Those bubble crank things are quite harsh on your buds. I have one gathering dust.
The table top trimmers work much better and faster without being so harsh on your buds.

And for what they want for those hand crank trimmers, they better give you a handy as well. If I am making home grown smoke, I am going to have hand trimmed bud. Maybe if I was growing pounds or had physical limitations, but even then help shouldn't be hard to find.
