Has anybody done an outdoor winter grow in Cali?

ive never done an out door grow but from what ive read most bring it indoors for the winter.... or they try covering the plants if they know its gonna rain......with tarps and things..... but most bring it indoors or not at all just cause of the cold which lowers yields and locks up much need nutes from getting to the plant cause its too cold. my advice go indoors all the way or not at all.... but like i said ive never done an outdoor grow so ????

Your best bet is to construct a greenhouse or cold frame to keep your plants from freezing at night. You may need supplemental lighting for a few hours after sundown to keep your plants in veg, until you want them to start flowering. Check your local sunrise and sunset times often and calculate the hours of visible light per day, then keep the lights on after sundown for as many hours as you need to produce at least a 16/8 photoperiod You may want to use a few small space heaters strategically inside your greenhouse at night to keep temps up. Jorge Cervantes says that plants stop growing at 55 degrees, so keeping your tempuratures up is going to be a major concern.

If you go through with this, I'd love to see the journal.

I have. My first ever grow was just an experiment, I was 16 years old and my dad had a bag loaded with seeds he had picked outta some mexi-mids...I really had no idea what I was doing, but I germed some of the seeds and planted multiple in one pot around october, only one grew, and it was a hardy motherfucker...I mean I watered the shit outta the seedling but it just didnt care, anyways I figured it was the genetics, just a plant that could grow no matter what, anyways to my luck it was a female, and it got about two feet before it started to flower...by the time it was done it had already started to revegg a bit cuz of the weird sunlight hours because I didnt harvest it when I should of, but still, doing everything wrong, growing it during winter, and stressing the shit outta it, I got about and 1&1/2 oz off it, and it was better than schwag, it was mids.
anyways, my point is, in california(especially socal), you can grow in the winter, it definitely wont be like your normal season harvest, and the plants wont be as big, but you can get decent smoke...I would suggest a lil greenhouse though.
