Nah...mold would wipe off of that surface I believe. It's the spores you can't see that you have to worry about....I cleaned and cleaned, and then used an ozone generator, and still the pm came back.
Do you only get it in late flower like me or do you get it in veg. I read that over fertilization can do it to but I went half of my normal of my last successful grow so can’t be that. I left for 12 days ( family emergency) left my sister a key. She came a hour befor lights out to water even though I told her that she can’t do that so I really won’t be able to note why it happen this grow because it happen when I was gone.

Hey all, I've been having ongoing issues with powdery mildew for months now and can't figure out how to stop it.

My basement is old (more like a cellar) with water channels built into it to carry water to the sump hole. As a result there's often small pools of standing water around that I believe are a breeding ground for pm and other bad stuff.

Despite the roughness of the basement temps are humidity are pretty stable. Generally 45-55% humidity and around 72-76f temps. I also installed a cold air return down there so fresh air is constantly brought in and old air moved out.

Since the PM showed up one day I've tried many of the solutions recommended online. Sulfur spray, h2o2 and neem had seemingly no effect.

Potassium bicarbonate (mixed with veg oil and dish soap) worked OK, but the pm would come back in 5-9 days.

Lately I've been making lactobacillus serum and spraying weekly with that. I didn't see ANY pm for a few weeks so I assumed it was working and decided I would just spray it weekly as a preventative, but last night more pm showed up 6 days after spraying.

I'm at my wits end and considering just shutting down at this house. I could have lived with spraying every plant weekly, but every 5 days or less is just going to be too much.

Has anyone here actually defeated powdery mildew? Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Also if there are any good scientific resources on PM eradication that someone could point me to that would be great as well.

Thanks!
So, I have had a couple of really bad encounters with powdery mildew. I tried several remedies with zero success. Then I stumbled across a product from Safer's called Defender. It is a garden fungicide spray. Stopped it dead in 3 days!!! My brother ran into it in a really bad way, I gave him what I had left. Stopped it in 3 days. I now keep a litre bottle on hand at all times.

1st 2 times were in veg, The second was about 3 weeks into bud. This stuff stopped it and it did not come back. I am smoking it and so are my wife and daughters. No lasting effects as far as we can tell. It worked for me, so I would recommend it, I know my brother is sold on the stuff.

Just a sprayed application of sulfur? That the one?

I just bleached everything. Now I’m gonna put equipment back in with a space heater and put temps up past 100 for 24 hrs. That should kill everything.

I believe so. I got rid of the spray bottle it came with so I can't be sure. I thought it had a shitty sprayer so I used a different bottle. The shit just clogs the nozzle and has to be flushed. Live and learn.

My grows over. My goal is to use something to prevent this next grow. My heater has a safety on it. Won’t go past 89. So much for that.
I would think the bleach and a good heating and drying should give a good start. But, I am still learning and old enough to be thinking of stopping...in a decade or 2 ;-)
