Has anyone had sucess with an employer and your medical marihuana use???

My mom is in a spot, she has been waiting to try medical marijuana until she can draw off her 401K and retire because her employer has a random testing procedure in place. I know all about the will to work, cards don't play against employers and all that so please keep on subject here; the question I am asking is has anyone ever talked to their employer about their medical need and gotten a good response? Has anyone ever been tested randomly at work where policy is in place to fire you and had an exception made for them? She now has multiple ulcers from the meds she takes for arthritis and degenrative discs so her list of meds that she is legal to take and won't be in trouble at work for (funny, with a script they let her use vic and oxy at work, but they are off the list now due to stomach issues anyway so moot point but ironic still) is getting tiny. she really wants to try medical marihuana, I have a great cbd strain for her to try when she can but the risk is what it is, I was hoping to gain some insight into how to work with an HR person if anyone has had a positive outcome. P.S. doctor bob, please stay out; thanks.

I hate hearing about situations like this man. I wish her the best and hope she can get some relief from your medicine you can provide.

Sounds like she works for a large company. If that's the case, I'd say she's in a bad spot. If it's a smaller company she will have more luck finding a sympathetic higher-up. Just my hunch.

Best of luck to her.

Thanks man but we won't even know if it helps or what strain if any will help until we can start experimenting....and that can't happen until she hashes (punny, huh?) out what's what with her employer. I hope to get one or maybe two accounts of that talk going well with someboy before I even suggest going to HR and asking, you know?

yeah, its big-ish. its a family owned co. with places all over the world like brazil and other states. She's kind of scared to ask; I was hoping to get someone on here that had a good experience to boost that confidence. She hasn't done it so her piss is clean still but it's a scary spot to be in-she's been there 15 years and when she went to for her first random the fool taking them said "oh, yeah like you're going to test positive for anything HA HA HA" so that's a perception that will get shattered possibly. Thanks for the well wishes all. great community we got here.

Is she planning on holding off if her employer is not cool with it?

The reason I ask that is because if that is the case, then what would it hurt to sit down with the employer and talk? It's not like she's currently using marijuana, so they couldn't fire her on those grounds. And, if anything, the employer would probably appreciate the fact that she cares enough about her job to inquire first before doing anything.

Would it be possible to Get her on marinol and then she would be good to go with testing? Just a thought, no idea if this would work.

I work a ski resort right now and it's by no means large, we probably have 80-100 employees, with myself and the general manager being the only two that work there in the summer. He is totally cool with it, I had a talk the first day I worked there and it resulted in me and my new boss riding around blazing a fatty. But here's the catch, it's company policy if I get injured or fuck something up that costs more than 1000$ that was totally my fault to get drug tested. So far I have snapped 2 axles on big machinery and done multiple thousands of dollars in damage to snowcats, but not 100% my fault either, but have not seen or heard or worried about a test. My buddy that I work with cut his head open and had to go get staples in his head and never got tested either. So I think if your a value to the company you might be good. Im sure this is a completely different working astmosphere than your mom and weed has always been kind of accepted in the ski industry.

First. Has she tried anti-biotics for her stomach?

Second if she is in a legal state in a largish comp. The HR types have already been to a paid retreat to discuss just this very topic. So she should go talk to them. I would try for the very highest rankin Boss. While she is clean of course.

If not the marinol was a great idea! Kudos to mancalonamann

A little off topic here, but I have a patient that has some bad stomach issues. IBS, ulcers, acid reflux, you name it. He has really gotten things under control through using marijuana, and also by making some slight changes to his diet. He went to see a doctor that specialized in nutrition, and the doctor discussed his PH level being too acidic, thus the ulcers, acid reflux, indigestion, etc. The doctor recommended foods that are very alkaline, which would level out the ph in his blood. I'm going from memory here, but broccoli, cucumbers, avocado, spinach, celery, and kale were some of the foods that were recommended to him.

He has been feeling 100% better since that consultation, which was at least a year ago.

Food for thought. :-)

I'm surprised no one mentioned quick fix synthetic urine. I have use it with great success and so have a half dozen of my fellow smoker buddies. My girlfriend uses it like once every 2 months just to keep her job and she has never fail or been flagged suspicious. I have use it at several diffrent testing facillity's over the years and success every time. Just wear some extra long socks tape the hand warmer to the bottle and slide bottle between your socks and your leg. Walk in check temp and pour into cup.

I have used the synthetic urine in the past with excellent results. Way easier and less uncomfortable then trying to flush yourself out. I had to take a hair test at my last job and my card got me thru! I'm not even sure if the drug testing place informed my employer. I had a friend that already worked there with his card so I knew I'd get in. It's a huge company too. I should give out the name cuz they downsized me out of a job. lol

I had success with medical marijuana while working for a small gourmet food company .. I was working as the lead cook and it was known that I was a patient and the owner advocated my treatment and usage Poly Neuropathy .. Unfortunately my health went on a downward spiral and I was no longer able to perform my duty and I was relieved with a generous separation package as well ..

Small mom and pop business's have ability to bend rules and make exceptions depending on the case but it all boils down to the superiors and there own personal views nine out of ten times ..

Work for a corporate business and most likely you ll end up being subjected to the books and rules of regulation .
